Sometimes I like to work out in the mirror or even just run in place or someshit because exercising is one of the few things that genuinely makes me happy. And seeing me happy in the mirror makes me happy. It makes me think that guy in the mirror isn't as ugly and detestable as I thought he was. And it works pretty well for the most part.

I just wanted a lil thread for the tricks yall use to make yourself happy

idk this counts but i love sitting in the dark and listening to music. makes me delve into the escapism aspect of consuming art more intensely and forget about my issues easier.

Realizing that life is meaningless and after I die nothing will be left of me and I'll completely disappear

Some find it depressing I find it extremely comforting

Takes the pressure of daily struggle off of you

I step outside on my balcony and look at the sky

When you see the beautiful color of the sky
    The sun
    Feel the air

You realize the universe is so big there's no point in stressing about mundane things

  • Look at a sunset

    Listen to good music

    Laugh

    Read good ass book

It's not a trick, and it takes a lot of effort, but what I do when I'm down bad is really be mindful of the way I'm thinking.

There are patterns we fall into that can be extremely harmful and we need to find ways to turn those around if we can.

So like, if your brain automatically goes to "I'm just going to f*** this up" or "this is going to be a disaster" when presented with an opportunity, you need to be mindful of that thought and turn it around. Do it over and over and over again until it stops being habitual.

At this point I know a negative impulse just by how it feels in my head. There's a s***ty, anxious feeling I get and I know something isn't right at that moment and I need to address it before it snowballs.

You don't want this to be you:

It may take months or years but when you flip those negative thinking habits around, your disposition will be totally different. It actually f***s around with your brain chemistry. If there is such a thing as a "happy" person, it starts with their thought patterns.

Is this related to karma in any way. Just a personal question but do you believe in it?
