Tax Plan

The next president will reshape tax policy after Trump's 2017 tax law expires in 2025.

• Restore the state and local tax deduction (SALT)

• Lower corporate tax rate to 15% “for companies that make their products in America”

• Eliminate tax on tips

• Eliminate tax on pay for overtime work

• Eliminate tax on social security

• Maybe eliminate federal income tax and payroll tax(?)

• Make interest paid on car loans tax-deductible, like the deduction for mortgage interest

Economy

The U.S. economy is the strongest in the world following the pandemic, however many Americans continue to express concerns about inflation and rising living costs. Unemployment rates are relatively low, indicating a tight labor market, but concerns about potential economic slowdown loom due to rising interest rates aimed at curbing inflation. Although the inflation rate has eased from its peak, it remains above pre-pandemic levels, influencing consumer spending and business investment. For many, grocery bills are a major concern, with staples like eggs and dairy still costing significantly more than a couple of years ago. Overall, while wage growth has helped some keep pace, many families are tightening their belts and feeling the pinch as they navigate these persistent economic pressures.

• Impose tariffs on companies that move manufacturing from the US to another country

• Impose a reciprocal tariff on any country that imposed one on the US

Plan to Combat the Housing Crisis

The state of housing in the U.S. remains challenging for many potential buyers. High mortgage rates and elevated home prices have made it difficult for the average person to enter the market. Inventory is limited, driving competition and prices even higher. While some areas may offer more affordable options, overall, rising costs combined with inflation have created significant barriers to homeownership for many families. Over 22 million renter households—almost half of all renters—are cost-burdened, spending over 30% of their income on rent. The number of severely cost-burdened households, spending 50% or more, has grown by 1.5 million since 2019, now exceeding 12 million.

• Remove regulation for housing construction

• Open up federal lands for large-scale housing construction

• End veteran homelessness

• Ban China from buying land in the US

• Ban undocumented immigrants from obtaining mortgages

Climate

Trump called climate change “one of the greatest scams of all time” last month. If re-elected, Trump will most likely spend much of his second term undoing much of President Biden’s climate policy.

• Pull out of the Paris Climate Accord (again)

• Roll back Biden’s electric vehicle policies and subsidies 👉 “Biden is spending billions and billions of taxpayer dollars subsidizing electric cars for rich people while normal Americans can’t afford to use one, nor do they even want to... Healthcare
