Remove regulation for housing construction
Does this help or worsen the already problem of s***ty fast built homes?
On the outside it appears like it would help the housing crisis by lowering the barrier of entry
With s***ty booty Republican scum of the earth, the caveat is most likely hundreds of entities like Black Rock continuing to buy land, buy real estate, and use the ease of restrictions to price gouge us harder
Also @Bo_Ceephus we already have a Trump Presidency thread so we don't need yours
@op of this thread has shown that they will consistently keep a thread of this kind updated and well sourced with their work on the Biden thread

@op @OnceAgain @999Wrld @krishna_bound - or anyone that can - would you be able to explain all this tariff stuff to me and why it's being pushed so hard right now
@op @OnceAgain @999Wrld @krishna_bound - or anyone that can - would you be able to explain all this tariff stuff to me and why it's being pushed so hard right now
Ok
A tariff is essentially a tax. They were used heavily in the 1700s and 1800s before we had income tax. A bunch of people have said look at Brazil for an example of tariffs in action. An iPhone is $1500-$2000. You buy an iPhone in the US for $1099, sell it in Brazil, you get $1099 and the government pockets $900
Tariffs can also lead to retaliatory tariffs and trade wars. If one country slaps a tariff on something like solar panels or washing machines, the other country might respond with tariffs on things like soybeans, then years of trade discussions and negotiations. Companies will move factories to different countries to get around the tariffs. They have a ripple effect on the economy
The reason Trump is pushing them so heavily (and he’s pretty much the only one pushing for them) is because of people's reaction to free trade. The function of tariffs nowadays is to discourage people from importing foreign goods, which helps out the businesses making the same kind of goods in your own country by reducing competition. Harley Davidson is an example of a business that is kept alive because of this. People viscerally hate free trade deals like NAFTA because they see it as hurting American jobs and industries even though everyone likes cheap and abundant goods
Even the biggest conservatives agree that tariffs will make business pass higher costs on to consumers
There is a possibility that Trump is lying about applying tariffs across the board, and he could be using the threat of a tariff war as leverage to negotiate w countries to buy more American products
However if the tariffs are real they will 100% raise prices which ironically will make everybody even more pissed off
“ Revoke the student visas of radical anti-American and antisemitic foreigners at colleges and universities”
A student got kicked off campus and is on suspension for going to a protest who was targeted by police
Beating the f*** out of students all year by Biden really lost him many votes who will no longer go out

Kind of confused on how best to honor someone’s request to transition without also transitioning too soon or without proper information
But I’m non binary and have been since young I guess if someone knows they know but they are going based on made up concepts
Legal age to transition kind of needs to be established
I still feel this way and I am very pro trans however the determination of when to block puberty needs to be had in a non emotional room where people can genuinely discuss
The next president will reshape tax policy after Trump's 2017 tax law expires in 2025.
Restore the state and local tax deduction (SALT)
Lower corporate tax rate to 15% “for companies that make their products in America”
Eliminate tax on tips
Eliminate tax on pay for overtime work
Eliminate tax on social security
Maybe eliminate federal income tax and payroll tax(?)
Make interest paid on car loans tax-deductible, like the deduction for mortgage interest
The U.S. economy is the strongest in the world following the pandemic, however many Americans continue to express concerns about inflation and rising living costs. Unemployment rates are relatively low, indicating a tight labor market, but concerns about potential economic slowdown loom due to rising interest rates aimed at curbing inflation. Although the inflation rate has eased from its peak, it remains above pre-pandemic levels, influencing consumer spending and business investment. For many, grocery bills are a major concern, with staples like eggs and dairy still costing significantly more than a couple of years ago. Overall, while wage growth has helped some keep pace, many families are tightening their belts and feeling the pinch as they navigate these persistent economic pressures.
Cap credit card interest rates at 10%
Across the board tariff of 10% to 20% on all imports
Up to 60% tariff on imports from China

Boost oil and gas production by allowing for more drilling and reducing regulations

The state of housing in the U.S. remains challenging for many potential buyers. High mortgage rates and elevated home prices have made it difficult for the average person to enter the market. Inventory is limited, driving competition and prices even higher. While some areas may offer more affordable options, overall, rising costs combined with inflation have created significant barriers to homeownership for many families. Over 22 million renter households—almost half of all renters—are cost-burdened, spending over 30% of their income on rent. The number of severely cost-burdened households, spending 50% or more, has grown by 1.5 million since 2019, now exceeding 12 million.

Trump called climate change “one of the greatest scams of all time” last month. If re-elected, Trump will most likely spend much of his second term undoing much of President Biden’s climate policy.

Roll back Biden’s electric vehicle policies and subsidies 👉 “Biden is spending billions and billions of taxpayer dollars subsidizing electric cars for rich people while normal Americans can’t afford to use one, nor do they even want to... Overturn Biden’s pause on building new liquefied natural gas terminals that are not already operating or permitted

“The next president and Congress will have the power to put their mark on major health care programs like Medicare and Medicaid that combined cover nearly 150 million Americans. They’ll be able to direct resources for how the United States fights the d*** overdose crisis and how the country prepares for the next pandemic.
“A recent survey found that two-thirds of Americans say health care should be receiving more attention in the presidential campaign, and there are several crucial health policy choices the next president is likely to face in their first year.” — NPR

A Trump re-election could heighten concerns about civil liberties. Critics worry about potential erosions of democratic norms, increased political polarization, and policies that prioritize loyalty over accountability. Furthermore, institutions like the FBI and the Department of Justice may face pressure to align more closely with political objectives, compromising their independence and effectiveness.

I would say open a high yield savings account for the troubled waters ahead but we know under Republican leaderships, the banks will just gamble all your money on insider trading and lose and it need a bail out in about 4-6 years so I advise everyone to get real accustomed to hoarding physical cash
