Still sad about David, I was selfishly wanting one more project.
Just got to make you appreciate The Return more.

i didnāt become a fan/hear of twin peaks until early 2021. iāve become slowly obsessed with it and lynchās entire creative process. ive never seen an artist like him before, i too was hoping heād have one more film/project i could be around to see release. end of the day, im grateful i live in a world where he did

ive already seen it too
rn im rewatching all of it an FWWM with my partner. its their first time watching all of it
After a marathon of watching a ton of Lynch films for the first time, I finally dove back into Twin Peaks with The Return. I watched the two episode premiere, and man⦠what have I gotten myself into? Those two episodes were so masterful in both suspense and terror. I honestly feel so blessed that we even got this season from Lynch before his passing. It feels so otherworldly. I think Iām going to take it slow with the rest of this watch, as I really want these episodes to sink in.

FWWM is definitely one of Lynchās best man. Such a sad, tragic tale.
The Return feels like it could be even better than the original series for me. Lynch is the best with comedy lmao his s*** is so funny

incredible stuff here

finished FWWM with my partner finally. we both agreed one of the most tragic, saddest movies weve ever seen and have no desire to watch again any time soon. 10/10 all around
the final scene with the angel :jordancry: im taking this as sheās being saved by the angel? in my mind i imagine there is a version of laura in the red room but i imagine her soul is off to wherever it is that sheās safe and never to be hurt again. i hope at least
incredible stuff here
!https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ttk0gc00fiQ&pp=ygUYd2hhdCB0aGUgaGVsbCB0d2luIHBlYWtzjust watched episodes 3&4 and this scene was peak comedy. these episodes were a LOT lighter than the first initial two, which was a nice change of pace for me. Iām very interested to see what happens with Dougie lol
Saw it in theaters for the first time (seen it at home a few times). Incredible in theater.
I have an epi and a half left in The Return. Will finish this weekend and start an immediate series rewatch
Iāve finally finished the 1.5 episodes in The Return I had left.
I have swirling thoughts about s3 and the show/experience in general. I feel that The Return has to be separated from FWWM and S1-2. Not in a bad way, not in a āthis isnāt the conclusion I wantedā type of way. My philosophy as a media enjoyer is to appreciate, trust, and respect the journey the creators want to take me on. Sometimes Iāll enjoy it and others I wonāt. A few times I have so much respect and equity built into the story (along with the nature of the story being told) that I will defend ambiguous or unpopular endings (ie GoT).
Here, I fall into the massive respect. The Return is its own beast that requires separate thought and consideration vs the 90s portion of the show. Everything about it deserves its own frame of mind to dissect. I love it because of that. Itās very cliche, but The Return is pure unbridled art on screen. Art that you grapple with, art that frustrates and confuses you. The 90s portion in my head feels separate than The Return. Almost like two different shows. Lauraās story is beautifully painful in the 90s portion, and The Return adds its own separate layers and puzzle pieces. I can have two different Lauraās like the show had in my head and I think thatās wonderful.
Iām starting an immediate rewatch of the series now. I really want to do the rewatch, and then watch the video in the second post along with some others.

That was kind of the genius wasnāt it. David brought back the show but he didnāt just give fan services he gave the fans a whole different beast to wrestle with.
I liked how you said that art can frustrate you.

Itās almost like he was testing fans. āHow much do you know me and how I tell stories?ā Itās brain food. Heās gonna make you think about whatās in front of you.
Yeah he gave them a messy reunion which is to be expected after 25 years.
