Never has an episode completely reset what a viewer thinks about a show like Part 8.
Lmao my GF loves OG twin peaks but she’s not into surrealism and arthouse stuff and she hated episode 8 so much i still remember her face throughout the montage it was so funny
i'm watching some of this right now, def cant and probably won't finish it all tonight, maybe not ever because the dude points out an important disclaimer at the beginning that explaining the mystery prevents you from being able to wrangle with the material as freely
Gonna tap in to skim this.
Finished the series last night and I am looking for meaning.
My main takeaways were:
You can't undo trauma, you need to face your s*** head on. There is no do-over. I had also learned this in therapy once upon a time.
You can force something back together but its never going to be the same. You can make all the actors come together for a reboot, but you cannot predict Log Lady getting cancer and dying halfway through the season. Once time has transformed something, it cannot be that way again and that was what The Return was.
As far as the plot, what is Judy and the tall alien guy and the lodge and the arm. Etc. I could use a little help so hopefully this video gives me something solid I can rest on.
My backlog of TV and film is crazy long at this point, I can't spend all my time rewatching this stuff trying to get a read on David Lynch's mind when I'll never be able to comprehend it

I find that video pretty reductive tbh. dude is trying way too hard to shoehorn a "definitive" explanation into intentionally ambigious art. the things you took away are a thousand times more interesting than anything in that video.
imo explanations like this fall apart already because there actually are a bunch of minor logical or chronological inconsistencies in the series which make some of the deeper lore like Judy almost impossible to clearly define. but imo that also doesn't really matter, I think Lynch's work thrives on suggested, subconscious, dream-like logic, it's more like emotional truths.
which isn't at all to say Twin Peaks is all dream-gibberish, I also think Lynch is very underrated as a writer because he deals with dream logic, the plotting is obviously super intricate, with this huge web of characters all having different relationships with each other. there's an incredible amount of detail in it all, but it's still futile to try find The Explanation and I dislike when people frame their takes that way ngl.

Yeah I bailed on it. I was glad to get responses from some of you guys in this thread, a lot of passionate fans for this show.
The world is a less fun place with David Lynch gone.
The blu ray is very good. Looks great for such an old show. His colour choices are just damn fine.
Finished season 1. Season 2 episode 1 scared the s*** out of me at the end.

"Actually I'd prefer to be called 'Denise' if you dont mind."
"Okay."
It really is that simple.
Rewatching for the 4th time, never fails to amaze me how much of a fall off season 2 is just for the last 30 minutes of the last episode to be peak TV
