p sure he called it a film before, he even explicitly said it was composed for the big screen (still my dream to see it on one eventually tbh). But thx for sharing the interview

He already called the original seasons of Twin Peaks a film btw

yeah but some fellers be hating ! hating on lynch for calling it a film even tho he himself said it (multiple times now!)

second part just dropped today. There's some little things where I think they got into too speculative territory Audrey waking up and being Sherilyn Fenn... Lynch explicitly said he's not really interested in meta stuff like that, but that's just some smaller things. On the whole extremely enjoyable talk about the season

just finished this actually loved both videos

way better than that feller making the whole show "meta"

I love rlm so i’m biased but yeah this is another really great re:view and with part 1 of my fav twin peaks discussions period. They’re so passionate and thorough and you can tell how much they both love it and think about it. I def agree with jay on The Return being my favorite movie of the last decade too.

I found it a bit ironic they trashed the 5h vid but then also ended up with most of their interpretations being "about TV"... but at least they frame it as their own little theories and stress that it's reductive to squeeze the whole season into one concept (which, amen) - it's about the talk for sure and they did a rly good job at making it entertaining

Not a day goes by i don’t think about it and wonder about it. It’s just so special and unparalleled in how it exists in my mind everyday. The fact we even got it to begin with is insane, so the idea we are getting another 18 hours of Lynch is just so unbelievable TP season/spin-off or not. We’re lucky as hell he’s still so active and always working. That lifelong transcendental meditation is no joke

yeah about new Lynch I set the bar kinda low honestly because I wouldn't have even been mad if he retired after The Return. I kinda don't wanna expect him to deliver like this again because it probably won't happen, but also of course... potential is always immense, and new Lynch is always a blessing. Hope everything works out despite Covid and they're able to film whatever he got planned next year

Nope. You should go in the order it was produced.

    Season 1
    Season 2
    FWWM
    Season 3

That's actually a very common interpretation, and a somewhat obvious metaphor... But again iirc he even denied any meta-commentary intentions with the box specifically in an interview. "Look at this idiot staring at this empty box, like idiot viewers of other TV shows" is def not a message he would be interested in pushing.

I think it was just the mystery aspect about a guy watching something where nothing happens or can logically happen which fascinated him

First one and a half seasons are a mystery about who killed Laura Palmer, FWWM shows her last days and murder from her perspective so obviously that's a big spoiler. I do recommend friends tho to watch FWWM after S2E9 when that plot somewhat wraps up and you still have it more freshly in mind. There's a line of dialogue which is a bit of a spoiler of the S2 finale in the film but basically you probably just won't understand it

Which is Twin Peaks: The Return?

Lynch: t’s an 18-hour film. You could see it all at once without the opening credits each time. Stick it together and it’d be a long film.

    it is a film ! f***ing c***s !

out of a new interview (5 jan 2021)

just finally got around to this, a rare good interview! One of the few ones where he at least has some variation on the things he says in every other interview lol

This rewatch of season 3 is really putting it up there as best season of television for me wow

I don’t think it clicked as good the first time

Subverted all my expectations too hard or something

Dropped it once after four episodes where I wasn't completely feeling it thinking it's a bit corny, the mysterious vibes did draw me back eventually tho and now it's still my favorite show
