It is also possible Drake heard that sample through how into the grime scene he was at the time. With a lot of the grime MCs and producers being so tied to the other UK subgenres they came up in like garage, funky, jungle etc.

This track is like an essential classic to that wider scene so I can imagine him just hearing it from that. surprised he didn't lean on that sound and people like Jamie for Honestly Nevermind tbh

No, they haven't broken up, they actually posted a video of them working on new music at the end of last year.

Oliver dropped his solo album recently(produced in full by Jamie, its brilliant) and Romy and Jamie are gearing to drop their solos too.

I think after that, we will get a new xx album.
Really excited for that considering how different each album sounds and how much they've influenced different parts of my life
