Yea this s*** Hard AF feels like a real album with how well it blends
Is like him rapping like his old mixtape days? Haven’t listened to it yet...

Yea it’s a mix of every tape tbh gives you a little of everything
like it more than BH3 but this def wasnt the magnum opus
transitions were great tho. wouldve still appreciated a 15 track album way more with some of these interludes and unnecessary tracks cut
very strong album, i HATE long albums but didn’t get listeners fatigue. possibly because he’s one of my fav singers rn but also probably because he knew to not make all of the songs OD long.
he still could have cut a few of the typical single type records because they just didn’t add to the album (didn’t make it worse tho, they just weren’t necessary). track 6 and your turn may be among my favorite music moments in his entire career, i can tell he took kanye’s advise to heart and really got as creative as he wanted to. some of those quavo and nicki feature songs watered it down but it’s still fire overall.
as a ty fan that really knows all the mixtapes I can say this is not a disappointment. if he trimmed this, it could be a magnum opus of R&B for the year and change the perception of him as an artist, but the long album trend stepped on that possibility with him, as it has for a lot of artists in my mind.
i also gotta give him props for his lyrical development. if you know his old music, he was a scumbag in every song and either really misogynistic or dirty macking in every song but you can hear his evolution on here. he’s way more mature and yeah it’s some dirty macking but it’s not overly done as if that’s his only topic. and he didn’t lose any of his cool factor by talking about women with a better tone, he sounds like he has a better vision and more to talk about.
first listen 🔥
always wanted to hear .Paak and Ye on a song now there's Thundercat and Ty in the mix
i always wanted paak with ye and thundercat with ye. the outro when thundercat comes in is eargasmic bruh
on “your turn” i really had the thought that travis scott and ty dolla sign albums are the dream version of a dj khaled album. these are the ultimate versions of collaboration.
i love that for his entire career, ty has always had heavily collaborative albums but it always added and never took away from it. one of his best attributes is know who to put on what. he doesn’t get enough of the respect as a curator artist like kanye or travis or tyler who have a ton of features that are apart of the story
he cuts 3 songs off this and its a all time classic i think
he didnt need the quavo, durk and nicki songs. those are 3 of nearly the same song, if he just keeps the durk or nicki one and gets rid of the other 2, whew
cause 1-6 is nearly impeccable (not huge on post malone songs chorus)
Idk after another full listen i can conclusively say this album just isn't hittin for me. Aside from 4 tracks, (Temptations which I've had for a min already, Status, Lift Me Up, and Powder Blue) everything on here was either generic or boring to me. There were rare good qualities in certain other tracks, but other elements brought those songs down to me. For example Universe - fantastic verses from both Ty and Kehlani but jesus christ that hook is so f***ing boring. Transitions aside (which were amazing) this might be my least favorite project from him
Good album by Ty
