Not with her lookin like this
Just say you've never seen people from those cultures 💀
“In the Western Cape, a distinctive Cape Coloured and affiliated Cape Malay culture developed. Genetic studies suggest the group has the highest levels of mixed ancestry in the world. Mitochondrial DNA studies have demonstrated that many maternal lines of the Cape Coloured population are descended from African Khoisan women and Xhosa women. In other parts of Southern Africa, people classified as Coloured were usually the descendants of individuals from two distinct ethnicities.”
And folks never seemed to want to research that before speaking.
When she fills out a form in American and it asks for her race, she will fill in "black". South African is her ethnicity but she is clearly black
I'm pretty sure there is an "other" option provided in the forms that side too

She's isn't she's not from America, black in America and black in SA isn't the same thing what aren't you getting she's coloured.
What a weird discourse
The only person that should be concerned about this is her
She actually seems to have talked about this multiple times but American folks are just discovering this and are mad.
@op this is a pointless battle. Even black people within our own country see coloured people as "anti-black" when they want their identity as a coloured to be recognized. We saw it a few years ago on Twitter when people were trying to say "Coloured culture doesn't exist". Seen some people say coloured people shouldn't be able to say nigga too. If our own people don't even understand, how can we expect Americans and Europeans to?
We both know that coloured people do have their own culture and heritage, the person who created that thread was ignorant and people proved that.
Every other race in SA has Antiblackness we both know that but it's not right to erase their identity though.
idk man can’t we just shake our asses to Water and call it a day???
Well this wasn't firstly brought up by SAns, American's were the ones who brought it up and became mad, but I'm going to defend our sis because we can't let a false narrative that is being perpetuated in real be seen as fact 💀

I hated that discourse and South Africans responded the only way we know how - with humor. But it really unearthed a serious and underlying issue that wasn't really addressed. Trying to erase an identity is crazy af. We didn't ask to be classified as coloured, we just inherited this s*** from Apartheid
I will say tho, that a lot of the older coloured generation can be racist af towards black people Those mfs can let the K word fly sometimes

I'm not a fan of coloured people using this to automatically assert that their ancestry is khoisan and thus they're descendants of the first people who were here and they're entitled to the land. A child between a Xhosa/Zulu and a white looks coloured. Most coloured people don't know their heritage, but just because they're light skinned, they think that they're Khoisan and the land that they're entitled to is being taken from them
Just look at Siya Kolisi's kid, he'll probably be classified as coloured if you saw him walking down the street
People need to realize that it's more complex than coloured = Khoisan
”This thread seeks to shed light on an ongoing issue where Americans on Twitter”
Twitter is not a real place.
This s*** just came outta nowhere, im starting to think is manufactured.

She should know better than to say this in an interview. Your culture cool but you should be socially aware of how others will view it especially if you want to have a global career. We've heard many other African artists talk down on African American people. Burna Boy goes around saying African Americans don't have culture but then dresses like this
Claiming your blackness only when it benefits you. Not saying Tyla is doing this but this is a bad look imo
