when was there ever a point where most people had the vocabulary to really elaborate on why they like a certain album or song or whatever past “it sounds cool”

Also this tbh, I think this just stretched out to literally any medium tbf.

KTT will argue against this because they thrive off negativity

It’s like when I ask someone who isn’t a Ye fan what they think about his music. “I like his older stuff. Didn’t he make that poopity scoop song?” If you don’t have an opinion, that’s fine, but stuff like that just reeks of going along with the “cool” narrative.

That's just wrong though lmao. Yea a lot of bozos just say mid and nothing else but a lot of others can explain why. And also a big part of music is how it makes you feel so if the feeling you're getting is of "mid" then it is what it is

so is calling something mid worse than just saying "its not for me?" which is what would happen if "mid" didnt become a meme of sorts?

Because when you ask these people what makes something mid or why do you think this is mid, they generally can’t give you an in-depth answer; just something along the lines of “it’s trash”

Yeah because when you say it’s not for you it isn’t necessarily discrediting the piece of art.

    But calling it mid is

and just to be clear i dont mean this in a pretentious way if that’s how it sounds because honestly i’ll admit i’m often very hesitant about getting into super deep discussions about music because i feel like i lack the vocab or “deeper understanding”

They don’t have the vocabulary, they don’t have the energy, or they don’t care. That’s pretty much what he said, how is that toxic discussion? Not everyone gonna eloquently breakdown everything you put in their face

    “Mid” is not a feeling

I think people don’t even agree on what the term mid actually even means anymore. I’ve heard people use it when they think something is absolute garbage and I’ve heard people use it when they think something is average. It just gets thrown out without any thought or pretense just to get an immediate reaction from people
