I'd say Kanye has many verses people revisit but the common knowledge of him being a producer rapper who uses writers makes him seen as more of an artist.

He's definitely not a Jay or Nas at all especially in 2024 but Ye had many good verses such as on Gone, DFSL, CTMN, All Falls Down, Gorgeous, DIAND, Saint Pablo, Famous, Otis, Kids See Ghosts, Crack Music, Everything I Am, Jesus Lord, etc.

So, he's not really a lyricist like that but I wouldn't say Ye is a Travis/Carti type where the lyrics literally don't matter at all.

No yeah I didn’t say he was horrible just not lyrical he’s spit some bad bars since the beginning, the ratio is just leaning towards the bad ones now

Tbh, most rappers spit bad bars at some point.

Wayne is my GOAT but he's spit a number of bars that were laughably bad despite making up for it with better ones.

I still remember having a WTF look on my face when Wayne confused a polar bear for a panda on Phone Home.

Papoose is also a lyrical rapper with many bad bars. You can write a book on the many horrible bars Papoose has lol.

I think Ye's issue is more so delivery than bars. Ye used to rap more proficiently and confidently but he's been sounding sloppier and more phoned in lately. So, even if he does drop a bar, the delivery can make it hard to appreciate.

He sounded fine on Burn though. Honestly, Ye just needs to focus on sounding good as a rapper and I'm sure Malik and Consequence can help him in the bar department.

Tyler is Kanye's son though, the same way all these female rappers are Nicki's son.

It’s a haphazardly thrown together mishmash of two verses that have no business being together. I remember when the Drake diss version leaked, people said it was in bad taste to have it connected to such a beautiful Andre verse, but the official released version isn’t much better in that regard. It’s slightly more on topic in the beginning but Ye loses it by the end and the awkward choppy flow is just not it. End the song after Andre’s verse or start the song after and only listen to Ye’s and try to salvage something from it, but listening to the entire song is a laughably bad experience.

I actually dug what ye was doing with the stop n start flow; it worked in contrast with Andre's verse

Maybe the worst song on the album and perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with the Deluxe version of that album.

Ok Ye’s verses are ass i agree Ngl, even the diss verses.

But Andre verse and the production are both incredible so it’s still peak

"West Coast hip hop is a regional genre of hip hop music that encompasses any artists or music that originated in the West Coast of the United States."

Tyler the Creator is a knockoff Pharrell Williams. He's going to get a biopic made out of mega bloks in 10 years time

He takes Pharrell sound somewhere Pharrell could never take it tbh. His production is way more intricate and musical than Pharrell and I don’t want to knock Pharrell at all. Actually Pharrell did a ton of stuff Tyler could prob never do either like make a million hit songs

They are related but they get way different results

How is Donda "mid" besides being bloated?

Just because an album is bloated doesn't make it "mid."

Mid means that half the songs on the album are bad or below average. That's not Donda.

Donda is solid. Neither great nor mid imho.

I personally f*** with it more than TLOP.

Mid literally means it’s middle. It’s eh.

Yeah, I don't understand this comparison with Ye

KTT likes Tyler’s music more than Kanye’s actual protégés (Travis, current Kid Cudi, Big Sean) so KTT is robbing Tyler from Pharrell like Pharrell robbed Kelis and Chad

He's like Pharrell, but more jazz oriented and minus the drum work.

This album, he got pretty damn close though.
