This his most relatable album by far for me. My dad left after my mom cheated on him, I got a girl pregnant 2 years ago and she had an abortion and I’m a f***in hater
Great album
Doechii saved balloon
Like that bar might be rap bar of the year
interesting that this came out like more of a Flower Boy successor than i thought it would
Literally a fall/winter version of flower boy lol
Thought this was gonna be a horror album ngl
Not to mention Kanye has plenty of beats he did not make the beat for but is credited as the producer in his later catalog because he executive produced it and told the producers how to make it
Hov and Kendrick do the same thing but just dont credit themselves as the producer
I’m not even s***ting on Ye for that bc thats the definition of production, the whole making beats is the only way to be a producer is something that only exists in rap
I ain’t talking about his later catalog. I’m talking about his prime.
Anyone else get Mr. Morale vibes from this? Each relisten i feel like Tyler was really inspired by the direction Kendrick went.
The production on Thought I Was Dead fits so much better in context.
I did NOT like that s*** off the snippet, but it works really well with the rest of the song going into it
Sounds super dope in the whip

I'm not hearing it

Great album

nah but frfr that’s tuff dawg
Niggas act like making a beat is way harder than writing a Nas tier verse
Both are pure artistry, if u are an elite lyricist thats definitely art ur tool is ur words
I never said it was harder.
But if one nigga is doing both and the other is just doing one, ima rate the nigga doing both above
It’s literally the only reason Tyler is as revered as he is. If he wasn’t producing, he wouldn’t be in these conversations
I never said they weren’t top tier artists
Kanye’s just above because he was top tier at both categories
But he wasn’t top tier at both categories
Kanye is not a top tier lyricist and he has writers but he’s still a top tier artist bc every artist has a blind spot
Kanye’s blind spot is his writing, Kendrick and Hov’s is them not making beats so hows it not close
The production on Thought I Was Dead fits so much better in context.

The arrangement is good
His rapping is amazing on this
It is kinda shocking to hear that Tyler's dad wanted to be in his life
We went all these years, with the topic heavily inspiring his music and then it gets flipped on his head
Edit: it probably ain't all that cut & dry but still
I ain’t talking about his later catalog. I’m talking about his prime.
That’s the case for Grad MBDTF and Yeezus too
I hate that argument and perspective so much
Kanye is not an elite lyricist and also has writers but he’s still a top tier rap artist because he makes great art
Same should apply for great rap artist who don’t produce, its just a blind spot in their artistry it doesn’t mean they aren’t top tier artist. Every artist has blind spots or something they don’t do
I think it's more so you can be still be a top tier artist just from writing/vocals without knowing how to produce. But it's just more impressive if you can do both at a top tier level. Same reason why prince is rated so highly
ok so whats the concept of the album
Tyler is having his midlife crisis at 33 for some reason & is questioning whether or not he should take the path so many of his friends have, which is something more normal (settling down). He questions if just his careerism & wealth is enough to sate him. Ultimately he decides that he would rather keep things poly, tying up filial loose ends, is generally unjudging of a woman's past, is interested im having a kid, knocked up some lady, but both weren't ready, I guess they broke up, & now here we are, with Tyler doubling down on what he always did: being a beacon for others
tomorrow giving me NERD vibes, loving this s***
one of the more lowkey tracks on the album but its SOOOOO good

Truth somewhere in the middle i think mom playing peacekeeper role

Sounds like his mom f***ed everything up just like mine did

Shiiiet I wanna stroke his beacon
