i’m convinced that a lot of twitter and forum users are pushing back on this idea because it inherently forces them to come to terms with the fact that niggas do often praise or kill certain albums solely based off the cool factor of it.

and i do believe that’s part of why music discourse had become so s***ty, people often talk about the numbers, or what’s played “outside” , or co-signs more, or who’s tough, often because they don’t have much of a connection to the actual music. i think that’s why sales have declined and thats why artists are trying less, because the music is not the focus.

i feel like this is barely even debatable lol
