He doesn't pretend it didn't happen though lol he still talks about that era and even performs some of those songs when he tours
Exactly. Contributing to the irony of him saying what he said
And the ones that I see that say they want to be the best really just mean they want to sell alot.
Drake invented

Not really...again I feel like he's talking about those kinda rappers who been popping up on Tiktok and s*** who are very clearly only in this rap s*** to make some money off of mocking it.
Tyler got into rap because he genuinely enjoyed that and making music, and wanted to make a real career out of it.

Niggas pretending HEY im JP 😃 is the same as im a walking f***in paradox era Tyler to play contrarian man f*** these stupid ass remedial niggas
You know what's funny. Niggas on here will be quick to s*** on Tyler and call him and his music "mysterious".
A lot of Tyler's music (outside of at least B******, Goblin, Cherry Bomb) not that left field that most niggas on here make it out to be.
But then turn around and praise JPEG, when his whole persona and music embodies the "mysterious" persona.
The nigga literally has a project called "scaring the hoes"
I refuse to have an opinion on said thread until the whole actual interview comes out.
Just wanna say @AmoryBlain one of the realest and funniest niggas on this site that LA post had me DYING yesterday
Like you said not MJ level. Why is that?
Because no one wants to be MJ level
= social media made it so MJ level never happens again anyways

Best rap album of last year.
If the youth didn't define what is popular in rap why is TikTok the most important thing to rappers and labels for the past 5 years? The youth is the main factor in whether a rap song is a hit or not.
Rappers dont make that much money off tiktok crodie
Tyler is a good musician I was just feeling hateful
Love Tyler
You’re valid though tbh
Jpegmafia fans when he samples a 1993 Honda Civic commercial and puts distortion on it:

i'm standing on this. I don't think any successful musician doesn't love music. obviously, in the streets rappers have a bad rep for being soft and fake or wtv, so its not cool to publicly identify urself as a rapper or musician. but at the same time, the music industry is extremely competitive. sure, meme rappers do exist, like the island boys are a complete joke. but to have an actual fanbase that checks for you requires effort, talent, and a love for music, even if some rappers don't want to admit it bc it sounds soft.
and i want to say it again. if some white rock stars said some s*** like this nobody would take it as a serious confession that they're not actually musicians, they would see it for what it is: an image thing. but when black artists do this, people are so quick to assume they really are talentless hacks only in it for the money, even if their catalog clearly shows otherwise.
I mean john lennon/beatles got killed (NOT literally) for saying they (beatles) were bigger than jesus and nobody took it as “oh that’s just an image thing” lolololol

This is a crazy post considering this process is essentially the genesis behind most of our electronic drum kits that exist today.

its human to wanna be accepted by everybody but doing so in ur 30's when you achieved sm is crazy to me
like in one breath hes "idgaf about nothing i am who i am" but u have one interview where hes talking tough tryna bully rap niggas to accept him, then u have another interview like this where hes s***ting on ppl for not being musicians
those same ppl u wanna be accepted by could care less if they are seen as musicians or not bro
i know hes saying its targetted towards those who explicitly say they dont care about the art they just stacking money but its like, jesus christ who cares if u make music youre a musician, its starting to just sound like elitism. its great that he plays piano but he really acts like hes stevie when he's obviously a talented self taught, play everything by ear dude
hes acting like trained musicians can't s*** on his playing and go to motifs just because he strictly compares himself to fl studio piano roll warriors instead of maybe other pianists.
idk it just reeks of this weird "i'm better than you but i still want to be accepted by you" its honestly crazy
a big part of his songwriting is this clnflict between ego and insecurity and probably the biggest thing he gets from kanye by far, but its like, is there any other topics u have outside of this and unrequited love?
bruh needs to chill and just work on his craft, hes cool but slandering the genre that made him the way he does just bc he can play some interesting chord voicings with ease is mad corny and i wish he got over himself and was as comfortable with being himself as he says he is

Like shut up nigga
a lot of ppl are understandably defending him bc yes i get it black musicianship is at a low in the mainstream, and regardless if raps hold on the billboard is wavering its still by far the definitive representation of black mainstream music for the past 3 decades, maybe 4
i just dont like dude s***ting on rappers for lacking musicianship when its a way more complex issue than just "niggas dont care about music no more"
feels like he's being dense just to s*** on niggas, when theres real socio-economic reasons for the lack of musicianship

the monologue that introduces this album is such a well put explanation for this phenomenon, and i urge anyone to listen to this
tyler has just become so out of touch, he really is like any other pull yourself from the boot straps capitalist and acts like every kid just needs to work on their craft and they'll find their clancy lol its such bullshit and i dont know why more ppl dont see thru the corn

Like shut up nigga
no ones denying his talent
i love his music always will but its corny to me to be all "i'm better than these other negroes! thank you clancy 🥹" than act fake tough, then still wanna be accepted by them its just insanity
It's dumb as hell, it's like their saying rap isn't art. Rap is not only an art, but being a rapper is a mindset/lifestyle, and there's so many ways to approach this thought process, but so many modern rappers approach it the same way.
Dudes put in a disingenuous effort into their music and want Grammys. Motherfuckers know their making bullshit nowadays and still want awards, it's crazy.
"im not a rapper im an artist"
"im not a rapper im a rockstar"
"im not a rapper im a trapper"
that s*** be killing me
Comparing Frank Sinatra to these TikTok rappers is insane
ofc frank s***s on most of them but my point is even just recording something someone else wrote takes some musicality
Odd future was 13 years ago lol can musicians grow and mature as artists nowadays? Or are we judging them on past projects and their past perceived outlook
u missing my point lol i love odd future. im saying stuff can be labeled as "meme music" or have a generally unserious tone and still be good. Tyler of all people should know that, so its funny he's saying this s*** now.
Comparing Frank Sinatra to these TikTok rappers is insane
I'm taking Tommy Richman over Frank Sinatra
