Couple things
The discussion about Ian has absolutely nothing to do with this. He a suburban white kid pretending to talk like Gucci. That’s what the discussion is about
You literally just proved my point. The discussion isn’t about young vs old s*** and here you are telling me all this like I have no idea and don’t understand modern music
Heh... You thought I was finished 😏
This is a discussion about inspiration. I wanna start off with this; The Internet has changed a lot from when Tyler started making music, but just imagine if he was clowned for making this HEAVILY Pharrell influenced album.
Tyler realizes young artists are the heartbeat of hip-hop. I'm sure he wants the best for them, maybe even Ian, yet he is so quick to forget everyone has a different path to uniqueness and even his own path. Obviously there's cases of mockery, but has Ian used the same lyrics or any of the same likeness as Gucci outside of how he sounds?
Also I want to repeat my first point since you decided to condense it into "old vs new s***." Soundcloud rap has always been very heavy on homage and right now more than ever. Ill give a quick example. Look at the pipeline of Playboi Carti a Atlanta native being heavily inspired by Flatbush Zombies a group from New York and then from Osamason a Ohio native being influenced by Carti.
This
https://twitter.com/airfuuka/status/1824253825676390445He's "unc pilled"
he not becoming an oldhead lol he had teezo on his album what are we doing
He's now OG status anyway
"This Challenger tearin' up asphalt, Pops on the track so I'm rappin' my ass off
That pistol he totin' somethin' Airsoft, he don't do nothin' but act tough for them cameras
I prolly could share what I care about, I'm just afraid that you won't understand it
I make the whole trap jump right now like a motherfuckin' parlay hit, yeah
I'm losing my head, but I'm holdin' it down, shouldn't get started with me
So much dirty money, I need hand sanitizer, huh (Oh, it's Holiday Season—)
Cruise in this Phantom with the suicidal doors
Half a million dollar carpet, leave yo' shoes at the door, huh
Huh, all that tough talk just not scary to me (Just not scary at all)
That is not your house, that's an Airbnb, huh"
I read through his album lyrics.
HE does not have any f***ing s*** to talk about in his music. Y'all can't be defending this low skill level ass loser.
He can't rap past basic surface level cars, name brands, and making more money than you. It's The only other thing he can do is toy with the fake trap lyrics.
This all started when we let guys like Travis Scott rap and act like they’re from the trap.

For people saying Tyler was a meme rapper or made joke songs there is some truth to that. But you can tell he loves music dude produced his own s*** from the start to now. Did a lot of his and other members album covers and shot and directed his and maybe others videos. Yes he made some silly ass songs but that's a lot of work to do if you not passion about music
He's now OG status anyway
Nigga be coming in with the level headed levity, I gotta respect it

If you were there to watch the earlier buzz around him youd realize that it was all about word play. None of the people who were anticipating his album/mixtape were expecting meaningful songwriting.
Lines like
"They go both ways in the cullinan truck the doors must hate eachother"
"My big brother like marshawn lynch he'll run through somebody"
The amazing beats by sxprano helped him garner attention as well
