Wolf definitely has some rough edges but it’s apart of the charm of that album whereas the rough edges of Goblin ruin it. It’s where he came into his own as a album artist to me while the next few albums refined that growth. Plus Wolf will always be super special to me since it came at such specific time in my life growing up.

Random s*** I just remembered but first day I listened to Wolf is the first day I listened to In Search Of… 2013 was special man

    Damn what an experience

In Search Of… Is like a top 10 album ever for me, im pretty sure i listened to it because of tyler too but i dont remember my first listen.

    hes up there

No, because niggas are stuck on 2011 Tyler instead about being in interested into Tyler now and beyond.

  • Apr 9, 2024

Cuz till this day most the hood still know him as that kid that ate a cockroach

  • Tyler is miles ahead as an overall artist but I guess one could argue on just pure writing lyrics….maybe…but that just seems like missing the forest for the trees. feel like it’s not really close overall.

    mr get dough

It’s just not the lane he occupies

The top 3 was decided in like 2012 when Tyler was nowhere near most peoples top 3

Realistically the big 3 will always be Cole, Drake, and Kendrick because the big 3 really means big 3 of the 2010s

Tyler isn’t slept on tbh, I think lots of people acknowledge him

Tyler is like a tier below them with Sean, Future, Nicki etc.

It's tough to accept that his pre coming-out era will always be his most impactful

Yeah the bars were immature, reckless, edgy, etc.

And yet the content was still more exciting and compelling than his Wes Anderson luggage bars. Yeah the Igor/Drama s*** was "critically acclaimed" Tyler decided too late in the game he wanted to be taken seriously rapping

would actually like to see Tyler battle someone now that his pen is a lot sharper

Tyler was a better overall rapper pre-flower boy. better artist now tho

  • Maybe there is a reason then .

Yeah I'd put Wolf up as being the best example of a "great divide" in his style - dividing his chances into cementing into a top 5 imo

One whole part of that career is spent being one way, not even on a sexuality spectrum thing, but lyrically their whole approach. And I'm happy for anyone who enjoys Tyler's more recent catalog but it's fair to say there's a reasonable explanation why Tyler hasn't reached the popularity of the others especially based on how he's pivoted styles drastically

Maybe these are nostalgia glasses, but "Wusyaname" is less impactful than the least played song off of B******

    HOV INNOCENT

He’s in a different big 3 conversation with Frank Ocean, Mac Demarco and Phoebe Bridgers

his fanbase prolly alienates a lot of rap fans i went to a concert of his and the people there were definitely… tyler fans

    they both fell off
tyler turned into a tik tok sounding artist and j cole is just plain boring trying to force himself in whatever rapper top (kinda like what drake does trying to force this image of a bad boy on himself)
