MJ isn't a top 20 biggest artist according to you lil bro he didn't move enough tickets. Top 5 biggest of all time:

    Ed Sheeran
    U2
    Guns N’ Roses
    The Rolling Stones
    Coldplay

MJ was gonna do like 50 straight sold out shows in London before he died

You keep coming up with the stupidest examples because you genuinely have zero idea what you're talking about

Goalposts moved. Just took some MJ disrespect lol

I’m not moving the goal post I never was arguing that tour single handedly makes an artist bigger than another im a different person with my own opinion

Man doesn’t understand what context is

Dawg you said "the more expensive fee to see an artist, that artist is bigger"

MJ had more attending but a lower ticket price. you tripping over your dumb takes.

That’s not what I said at all

I said if people are WILLING to spend a more expensive fee to see an artist, the artist is bigger.

Weeknd is charging at least $150 for a ticket to his stadium tour right now and it’s selling really well. That’s the minimum.

If a smaller artist was charging people $150 minimum to a show, the venue would be empty

There’s no age requirement at shows, and yes some can’t afford it but the biggest artists are still able to sell out venues. There isn’t one big artist in the history of music who went their whole career unable to sell out shows

Age is a huge factor lmao if someone has 13 year old fans their parents probably not letting them go to a show alone. Especially a certain type of rappers show.

Also these new artist coming out in the festival era at a disadvantage because a fan can just pay $200 to see all their favs at once instead of spending $100 going to every single artist show. It’s not cut and dry as y’all making it. Touring and Music consumption aren’t correlated like that anymore

    Yes they are still correlated.

All of the biggest artists in the world right now are huge on touring.

Drake, Taylor, Bruno, Adele, Kendrick, Beyonce, Weeknd, Rihanna (when she drops), Bieber, Post Malone, Bad Bunny, BTS, etc.

They all spend at least year+ touring around the world, and they’re the biggest artists on the planet. It’s correlated.

Certain artists only tour North America because they don’t have the global reach to do other countries. Why do you think only the biggest artists are headlining shows around the world outside of the US?

The list makes my point. Besides post Malone all those artist came out pre streaming and pre festivals dominating.

There’s a reason the biggest artist from the new gen aren’t touring like the ones from last gen. Music and fans have changed.

Also proves age matters because when touring revenue is reeleased it’s usually the older artist and bands etc with the best touring sales. You have to build a touring history. A fan can just stream your music now. They are still a fan.

Travis Scott. Billie Eilish. Bad Bunny.

All became big after streaming and all sell out their tours. That’s just a few.

Look how short that list is. You know there are a lot more popping artist with a lot of fans out there bro.

The 2 aren’t as correlated as they used to be. Especially with rap being the biggest genre now that’s a whole other discussion about the problems a street rapper face getting fans to come to shows vs pop artist

  • Apr 26, 2022

Exactly, so if more people are willing to spend a more expensive fee to see an artist, that artist is bigger

Also, streaming is so easy to do it’s so easy to just passively stream something, more streams doesn’t always equate to the artist being bigger

Anyone keep they ticket stub from the U2 concert back in 09'? Trying to find the price it was sold at

  • Apr 26, 2022

Literally most the people I grew up around have never been to a live show or just went to their first one in their 20s. We can’t just judge off who can afford to go to concerts lol
