Crazy how in America the freedom to choose is all about the freedom to choose 18 different flavors of redbull and 37 types of lays chips and not the freedom to have a good job with a union or universal healthcare

    we're trash lol

"Contract Workers" is bullshit, they just want to avoid giving them benefits. Also its sounds real nice on paper when you say your average employee makes $X amount when you contract most of the work out to people who dont even make a 1/4th of that

Was supposed to be a side hustle but people want to actually make it a career

NYC yellow cab drivers never got benefits and they were doing it for decades and decades.

If you want a sick day you just don’t open the app it’s that simple. The government is literally over reaching and trying to rewrite the rules of the service

They advertise it as a career (or at least give incentives for career level amounts of rides)

People are only allowed to work certain time frames lmfao?

They can clearly log what hours they work and turn it in. They have the app monitoring there car rides so they know if they work or don’t work.
It’s simple if they just “clock in” do an hour minimum. And get paid for what they work. It isn’t that hard. You don’t need to be given a schedule

Indeed. No such thing as class solidarity round these parts.

The American cult of the individual denies not just community but the very idea of society. No one owes anything to anyone. All must be prepared to fight for everything: education, shelter, food, medical care. What every prosperous and successful democracy deems to be fundamental rights — universal health care, equal access to quality public education, a social safety net for the weak, elderly, and infirmed — America dismisses as socialist indulgences, as if so many signs of weakness.
How can the rest of the world expect America to lead on global threats — climate change, the extinction crisis, pandemics — when the country no longer has a sense of benign purpose, or collective well-being, even within its own national community?
