the film has no idea what music is, to an extent where I find it offensive
No offense but I f***ing hate this s***. Almost every type of art or culture is misrepresented for dramatic purposes when brought to screen, but for some reason it's really only jazz that gets gatekept to all f***.
I would even say Good Times is better but enjoyed both films
good time was so much less nerve wracking lmao
Midsommar was ehh to me
I liked waves a lot
Havent got around to Waves, too many great s*** dropped last year. Im still working my way up there
Midsommar is ass
Its not, its only hated on KTT lmao
Ari aster is hated on here for some reason but Hereditary & Midsommar got under my skin in a way most horror films can’t
Ppl never give too many reasons for their dislike on here in regards to Midsommar. Sure everybody can have a different opinion but it was great on a technical level and pretty original (don’t come at me with the Wicker Man, they are very different when it comes to themes and feel, idc that its both two cult like groups and that they have kinda similar endings)

how is Neely even gatekeeping? You should listen to what he's actually saying lol, it's just that jazz musicians are rarely ever dramatized and it's disappointing to him that by far the most popular modern portrayal is so far from accurate. He actually says it's an ok film lol
It's not even about jazz for me, to me this film just achieves the amazing feat of getting music wrong full stop. Even as a drama about "overcoming the obstacle" it sucks ass. It's competently filmed but entirely ill-conceived imo. It's mindboggling to me how people d***ride Chazelle that much

I mean everyone has their opinions.
Is hereditary the one where the kid’s head goes flying off on the highway?
That’s the only good/well made bit of the film, with the scene before and whatnot, but overall I wasn’t impressed.
Same with Mid, just a very ok film

I don't agree man, idk any director who's horror flicks are having more effect on me working right now He's 2/2 on my watch Midsommar is in my personal top 5 of 2019
This movie is so over rated for no good reason. I love Adam Sandler and was very excited when it initially released but it’s literally, and I mean LITERALLY about a jeweler that scams and owes people money lol. The plot is legit horrid... the way it ended was unexpected to me at least but still not enough to make this a good movie
I respect OP for putting this out there, great movie.
I got Social Network, Birdman, Parasite, BR2049, and Whiplash as my Top 5 of the decade
