Love this record. Big Ghost is a perfect producer for Crimeapple

You like CRIME’s 2020 albums? Didn’t like the newest one on first listen but it’s growing on me.

Nah. Some cool joints here and there, but a lot of the time his projects have no occasion—that’s why this Big Ghost collab hit so different, because the production was so fitting and hit such a wide range of sounds compared to his more recent stuff.

Imo his best s*** was like 2016/17. I don’t mind the spiritual/wisdom bag he’s been in for the last couple years, but I used to really rock with his more crazy, less smooth tracks.

His verse on Smoked Maldon was one of his best in a minute tho

Exactly. Like I don’t expect a random rap fan or music fan to know of Griselda. I could be way off tho

Almost 3 million listeners monthly on spotify alone. By whatever metric you wanna use he's far from underground

Besides the numbers, he’s like in the grey area to me. Same w Griselda: at the top of the underground

Agreed. With Bandana Gibbs really took a step forward. He's featuring more and more high profile artists with each release it seems like

definetely a golden era the amount of super high quality s*** coming out rn under dif scenes is insane, and its mostly east coast.
Elcamino, CRIMEAPPLE, Che Noir, 38 Spesh, Caleb Giles, Roc Marci, Medhane, Stove God, Flee Lord, Mach-Hommy, Your Old Droog, Ka, $ilkmoney, Fly Anakin, Quelle Chris, Billy Woods, Rome Streetz, Daniel Son
A few of these guys have a similar sound but no matter what its absolute QUALITY overload and they have been putting out nothing but great music since the spark of reloaded in 2012. Id argue acc roc especially is having the best years of his career rn quality wise. Griselda is obviously the faces of the east coast underground scene rn so thats the only reason i didnt put them, but yeah its insane

Fr. Don't know why the best are all basically from NY tho, but it's dope

Yeah Roc will never get enough credit tbh. Actual legend

Cause its specifically NY thats been kicked down and had its sound stripped for years, now its like a revival period.

  • Sep 15, 2020

the breaking down of borders in hh affected the east coast the most, now they taking it back w the statement of the 2 street rap and slums scenes

Doom aint underground. He also isnt really that active anymore so hardly a valid comparison. But his late 90s-early 2000s run certainly wasnt percieved that way.

Of course Mach is. He actively limits the accesibility of his music. Jay-Z cosign doesnt detract from that.

But anyway, the whole debating who is and isnt 'underground' is a needless discussion point. All this thread is seeking to do is prop up more under the radar artists and releases. Gibbs hardly is starved for attention on here.
