My thread about a black women being raped and murdered was locked for no good f***in reason.

    ktt2.com/blm-activist-found-dead-after-protest-69166

Mods say there was already a thread on it: ktt2.com/are-black-men-less-vocal-about-injustices-against-black-women-68855

This thread is NOT about her. It doesn't even detail the situation, doesn't state what happened to her, tells NOTHING about her life. The title of that thread is called "Are black men less vocal about injustices against black women" so how the hell is that the same as my thread? That thread isn't about Oluwatoyin Salau and you know it. Vaguely mentioning her name ain't gone cut it.

Y'all wrong as hell for that. If there can be a thread about an hispanic woman missing, there can be one about a black woman missing and being murdered so you've made yourself very clear.

edit: I retract statements made about the mod in question.

who said there was already a thread on it and pointed you to that?

I wasn’t referring to that thread but I was almost certain we had another thread specific about her I will unlock it now

And if the mod who locked it is a black male, you're literally only proving that thread correct by trying to bury this story under some bullshit thread with a bunch of mfers arguing about black twitter and black men vs black women. Y'all wrong as hell for that. If there can be a thread about an hispanic woman missing, there can be one about a black woman missing and being murdered so you've made yourself very clear.

i wasn’t involved in this ftr. and yes they are. and i agree with you completely. but there’s nothing that’s been “made clear” here. this 100% seems like a mistake

  • Jun 16, 2020

    already unlocked it btw

  • Jun 16, 2020

but seriously it seems like nuj made an oversight. and this thread jumped to same major conclusions

Someone commented that there was already a thread on it and that's the thread they posted. It looked like Nuj was cosigning plus I haven't seen a thread on her.

if there was a thread on her already I apologize and retract my statement that just came off as a real slap in the face especially given everything that's going on rn plus I'm sure you can see the other thread is a bunch of disrespectful f***ery

i was already writing this reply before ur comment.

but look man. nuj absolutely 100% made a mistake. ideally he should have verified it instead of making the assumption based on a post (although he just said he saw a similar thread, so along w the post from that guy it’s a really understandable mistake), especially with the load mods are under now.

but this thread jumped to same major conclusions which are seriously counterproductive and ultimately lead to more mistakes like this. we have good mods who stop because of this and other mod harassment, including multiple black women who gave up modding.

and since it’s so important rn, and because this has been happening for a long time, i need to just point out how problematic this is.

100% the story itself is f***ed up and deserves attention. this is the kind of s*** a hat calls for anger and riots, bc it’s the only way to be heard.

but this thread here is about a thread being locked on a forum. not a fight for civil rights. it isn’t necessary to immediately assume the worst and talk like this to someone who is well-meaning and made a mistake? you can’t just treat people like s*** when they will HAPPILY help if you posted here. it would have been solved immediately with “why was my thread locked?”. and i guarantee every single mod would review it and see
the clear mistake that was made and immediately unlock it.

i get that we’re all angry right now. but man.... “unlock my f***ing thread!”... you’re talking to people who volunteered to help the community, not f***ing cops blind to systemic issues that are killing people

and this isn’t just about this thread. so this isn’t about you. but they’ve had thread titles like this right from the beginning.... and usually over ridiculously trivial threads too. and all it does is seriously f*** with their morale, then they stop moderating for the sake of their own mental health, which then damages the community as a result.

and most people who would be good mods don’t want to come anywhere near that s***. meaning mods are stretched thin and then it leads to more issues exactly like this

im not attacking you don’t get me wrong. i get it. but please try to understand our perspective here. because as far as everything is concerned, on this story and every other one like it, we all feel the same f***ing way. at the very least i know nuj and i do.

again im not attacking you. im commenting on a pattern of mods being treated like s*** and leaving. and disproportionately women.

and nuj and i were literally discussing this exact topic and how to help it when the notification for this thread came in.

Because my anger wasn't necessarily fueled mods, it was fueled by a bigger issue in my community where black women's stories are not often heard. So I felt locking my thread contributed to something I experience irl. Nobody even made a thread on her, so the fact that this one got locked had me heated. This is my first time bringing up a complaint about a mod, locked thread or whatever. As a daily poster I felt I needed to give this story attention instead of just complaining.

But you're right I made an assumption because I also saw him post in the other thread earlier but I apologize to him and see that it was a mistake I don't want to keep putting him in the middle of this. Just know that this wasn't anger directly incited by a mod on this website.

i got you completely. and i know you didn’t write that whole OP out of anger directly from the lock. (just like most of my post wasn’t about your thread). this was just a situation of misunderstanding/assumptions

if any part of my post also seemed too aggressive i apologize. nuj and i were literally just talking about this issue of morale and how great mods have left bc of it

we were also discussing major overhauls to the moderation system. and it’s my job to design this thing to reduce misunderstandings/lack of clarity like this. in the future all actions taken on your account/threads/posts will send you a notification, with the option to disagree w the decision/appeal which will then be reviewed asap.

    anyway ty for being understanding

@blase btw could u edit the title? i don’t want it to encourage trolls to post titles like this about trivial s***
