Got a flaming hot take for yall rn. Just watched Alien3 assembly cut

And i think its on par with OG Alien (Scott) and Aliens (Cameron)

Everybody seems to hate this movie and Fincher himself hates it even more but it was shot beautifully, had a great setting, the BEST score out of all the Alien movies and really gives the best ending imaginable to Ripleys arc

Also think its stupid how people criticize the movie for killing off 2 characters from Aliens, its not supposed to be a happy fairytale, its the mf Alien franchise to me it really set the tone and that was great to me

There were only minor flaws and the first two Alien movies that are considered some of the best movies oat have flaws too. For the OG, i didnt like almost any character apart from Ripley, and for the sequel they made the Xenos too easy to kill. This 3rd movies biggest flaw to me is some poorly aged CGI shots

So yeah i really dont understand the hate this movie gets and i really really liked this film. 8/10 movie and i loved how they reinovated the franchise yet again.

The only Alien film i have yet to see is Resurrection

The hype around Lynch made me check out his movies and Twin Peaks which I hated at first, I looked up a bunch of theories online that me feel even stupider. Then I saw Mulholland Drive which was still confusing to me but I appreciated it and his style grew on me from there.

Then there was Inland Empire which was f***ing terrifying

MD, I like Inland as well but MD holds a special place in heart since it was key to me appreciating his work.

Yeah, Twin Peaks is cool. I got really heavy into it a couple years back.

Mulholland Drive is a great entry point for Lynch because although it is still dripping with his style it is a bit easier to digest. Have you seen Blue Velvet?

Fans were mad because the characters were killed offscreen. Newt and Hicks were definitely the fans most liked character after Ripley and the fact that they just died because of an accidental crash is stupid. If they had been given proper death scenes no one wouldve complained.

Also i don't even remember a single character from Alien 3. Not even what they look like. The new Alien design was cool and all and I dont mind Ripley dying at the end, but the whole movie is just the first but more boring and less frightening. Aliens at least took the concept in a different direction

I mean i can kinda get that the fact that they were killed in some dumb exposition way offscreen got ppl annoyed but personally i never really cared about Newt & Hicks like that even tho Aliens is probs my fav movie of the franchise.

I just feel like the fact that happened and Fincher publicly disowning this movie made a lot of ppl have some serious hate for this movie that i think is a bit unfair. Id say this is #3 behind the first two movies.

Its better than the Prometheus/Covenant reboot imo and if you view the first 3 alien movies as just a trilogy its just perfect and the best the series ever been

This is interesting cos I watched all 4 years back and remembered 3 as being one of my favs (maybe even my overall fav).

Rewatched them recently and felt very differently, possibly watched s*** too close together but it got mad repetitive to me.

In 3 it just seemed like they had nothing beyond the idea of

    (Spoiler Alert!!!)

Ripley’s alien pregnancy, and had to rely on rehashing the same s*** as the earlier films to flesh it out into 2 hrs. I did like the prison setting though but even that kinda felt like the group just became a minor re write of the commando group from Aliens.

Defo could agree about the score and that though

Prometheus is for sure a dope movie but the direction they went after that with Covenant made me lose hope for the reboot being anything other than just a couple ok movies

I liked the more philosophical angle with finding your creator, its a shame fans cried for the return of the Xeno cause Covenant had the weakest Xenomorph encounter imo in the whole franchise

Now that i've had more time to think about it i'd say the first 2 movies reign supreme overall, but Alien3 is following them really closely for me
