It would be a great show if it was funny

I don't understand the appeal of a show that pushes the most bleak outlook on life and acts like it's the truth, without offering much else

Very overrated show. I get that Bojack is supposed to be the unlikable yet understandable character that you sympathize with, but seeing him be an a****** and then throw a pity party for himself every other episode just makes the show a chore to watch.

I think if you watch it that way, in the sense that you're looking for the story beats, then yeah it becomes unwatchable. I personally like it but I see where you're coming from

Except the show isn’t just offering a bleak outlook on life unlike something like Rick and Morty.

It’s goal is to depict depression in a realistic way but also to look at many other serious subjects that way as well such as sexual assault, abortion, miscarriages, dementia, neglectful parenting, etc.
but it also often gives hope to the characters for real positive change in their lives.

to simply dismiss it as depression p*** and refuse to actually understand what messages the show is going for is willfully misrepresenting it’s goal and under minding the impact it can have on it’s audience.
