I think Barry Bonds and Homecoming bring it down slightly and that Kanye is not trying as hard as he is on albums like LR or MBDTF. Like Kanye at the moment wanted the album to sell and be popular and accessible so you can hear that its slightly dumbed down in a way. I think if he didn't care for those and was simply trying to make the best piece of music, he couldve gone even further with the electronic and futuristic sound he was going for that he eventually further explored on 808s.
homecoming is literally one of the most popular songs on the project. i personally like og home way more but i do appreciate him making a song with chris martin and what that statement was for a hip hop artist to collaborate with a huge pop voice yet maintain his voice and creativity, rather than succumb to a sound. same idea behind heard em say

another major thing is...ye's ability to flip samples went god level. If you really pay attention, just the way he deconstructed samples and intertwined them with the electronic elements he was using is amazing.
