They could have done some weirder elements in second half to differentiate from other vampire movies but it worked fine for me

Of course OBAA doesn’t. No non-black director can ever accomplish that even tho I do respect him allowing Teyanna and JP to provide insight to the character. And Benecio when it came to the Mexican segments. But my assessments of movies isn’t based on “which is the most black”.

Sinners first half is amazing where it tackles all of that. The Delroy backstory. The music. All that is great.

When the vampire s*** happens is when it gets a little meh. There was a scene where they show 6 ppl left in the juke joint, where they all had to eat garlic to prove they are human. Then all sudden when the vampires rush in a bunch of random humans pop up outta nowhere and get instantly killed. Where tf them random niggas come from? It’s s*** like that that shouldn’t be left on the cutting floor of a filmmaker at Ryan’s status.

Still inexcusable to me that it seemed like our protags were the only ones left at the party then all of a sudden it’s mad extras getting murked.

Nah trust me I went into knowing it was a vampire movie, theme wise all of it is great. It’s just more so the story where it becomes meh for me.

It Made perfect sense both plot wise and thematically why she did

The Asian woman didn’t want to give up the life of her daughter who she knew would respond to her vampire dad asking to come in

The other peoples families were at risk too but the whole scene made perfect sense . I’m surprised at how much debate there is about that scene
