huh? It's nice to see what other people think and not just what I think. that's the point - and what I've seen most people bring up.
I see your point but the like counter is an agglomeration of superficial opinion. A like barely shows what someone thinks—let alone being an indication of what someone actually feels when they "like" it. How does a like tell you what someone is thinking?
Wouldn't you want to hear what other people think by actually reading what other people think? That means actual responses and discussion instead of meme posts (which usually have the most likes) or ad hominems.
I don't care personally either way about likes but it seems like you guys desperately cling to these like they're some type of commodity. "Commodify the discussion AND the experience, not just the experience" is all I'm saying really.
regardless, it's pretty much guaranteed that likes and other types of reactions to posts and messages will be available across most of the site, especially chat threads, group threads, audio threads, etc. once other issues are worked out with other features.
Just to clarify, this means that you’re going to try and allow likes to be visible in certain threads? Asking because the KTT2 Verzuz were pretty much dependent on the visual like counter when deciding the winner for each round.
check the last post in the "cant see likes for some reason" thread
Idk if it can be easily done, but can you guys make a thread/post of the top five most “publicly” liked comments? That would be pretty cool tbh

one of the real problems is a like being a binary thing. it tells you nothing and people think it tells you everything
we're on the same page followed!
just to confirm, the removal of likes isn't 100% permanent right? we testing it ?

We are on the same page. However likes in my eyes are just a piece of information. Even if that information is trivial, as you say - I want more information, not less. And I really don't think removing likes is going to usher in more discussion. This is a reach, imo. If someone sees a post and thinks, 'that post is amusing", they aren't going to type out "your post is amusing, etc. etc.". They'll just blank quote the post like they used to do on KTT1, which was a huge nuisance and clogged up threads. If they really want to reply to it, they will like they always have because this is a forum. I also highly doubt removing likes will get rid of the toxicity of the music section. The music section will always be the way it is. It's the f***ing music section.
yall caved in on the likes?
KTT would never
