@team on a different note, any chance of AM coming to bios?
yessss im just putting off that $99 yearly fee atm lol
Besides aesthetics and whatnot, likes were the best feature added to ktt2 from ktt1. In ktt1 a post's popularity/quality was kinda linked to people blank quoting it, and ktt2 did a great job of switching that measurement to the like feature. imo makes absolutely no sense to remove it
I think if you are going to consider taking away the upvote system you should poll the users of the site first. It's become too big of a feature to take away based off a whim. I agree it has some flaws. Mainly that it encourages cynicism since it seems cynical posts usually get the most upvotes. But I think it's kind of unfair to take away now that the entire site has habituated to using it. It's what you created so deal with the benefits and the consequences. Imo it's nice and informative to see what posts get the most upvotes so we can see what people agree with and/or disagree with. It's one of the reasons reddit is so successful as a forum. It's a good system that prevents people from requoting a post 100's of times which as we know on KTT1 derailed threads and caused many threads to die before they even started.

want to point out two examples that show the necessity of likes in certain threads or sections:
ktt2.com/recommend-me-a-good-but-not-so-popular-series-116793
in this thread, let's say I'm the OP or just looking for a new series to watch. with likes, I can see which series get the most love which is like a stamp of approval by ktt. without the likes, I just have an endless list of series with no real consensus of idea where to start
you can see this a lot in the book section too with threads like this
ktt2.com/life-changing-books-90695
if I'm looking to read one life changing book, before I could have gone into this thread and chose the one with the most likes. now it's just a long list with no order
there are a lot of other similar examples and I can't think of a case in subforums like TV & Film or Books where the likes were abused or led to like farming. so I see the point of getting rid of likes in the music or l&a sections but think it should be kept in other sections

Maybe it should be a thing mods can turn on / off based on the thread.
Please bring back likes fam
this is why i loved this site, easy to distinguish what people were really f***ing with, and other stuff that was just singular opinion
please let this be temporary
yall can take away likes but cant give us a DM feature.....
there's a DM feature, it's just hidden and you have to follow people

Communication is the biggest issue right now. There is an entire forum (people starting threads in music sxn for improvements) with a help sxn, a support system and people just talking to mods on Discord/dm. But still it's unclear to the majority of the forum how to reach people or get information about a certain subject. If people knew what was coming they could form their opinion about it in the right place. There's still a big group who wants to remove likes, but the process of this all is really messy.

i know, i've used it
but it's way too lowkey. need something more resolute. and if its stable enough to be used hidden, why can't they work on making it resolute? the site was created in 2019, its 2021. we've gone almost 2 years and still no real DM feat

Bring back likes and gives us a proper DM system with notifications.
Can't forget multi-quoting
It's a forum come on now
Why do y'all need likes to discern quality content? Don't y'all have eyes and a brain to read and properly judge a post rather than a like counter?

huh? It's nice to see what other people think and not just what I think. that's the point - and what I've seen most people bring up.
remember when apple removed the headphone jack...
innovation..
simpletons wouldn't understand..
shout out steve .. .
tbh though, i do think likes were the best new feature from the ktt1 to ktt2 migration but i wouldn't totally mind if it was completely removed. just going to take some getting used to.

uggh steve was dead when they did that and was probably turning in his grave as well. It was just a move for apple to make more money and is still an extreme inconvenience.

i mean, it probably was a way to make more money with dongles and such but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't completely assimilated into the wireless sphere

And what innovation will be used to replace likes? AirLikes?
