i dont know how you guys can be so mentally ret*arded that your position is you have to experience something first hand to know it exists

if ur gonna accuse someone of being a pedo dont be a crybaby when u get called out back
if ur gonna accuse someone of being a pedo dont be a crybaby when u get called out back
honestly all i was implying was that you were looking at some weird stuff. you decided to take it straight to 100 and claim i was calling you specifically a pedo. and i see how that interpretation's possible but the fact you're so riled up is kinda funny none of this s*** is that deep
i can see how social media plays into this. 2012 is when instagram started to gain traction
Also near 2013 was when smartphones reached 50% universally of the market sales in the US. Meaning that's when kids started getting them.
If the problem the government had was with algorithm based short format videos f***ing kids up and not foreign access to US markets, we would see a vastly different response (no response)
TikTok is not good, but acting like the US Govt is doing this for the sake of kids is crazy
Highly suggest you read Jonathan Haidt's "Coddling of the American Mind".
His substack is great as well; https://jonathanhaidt.substack.com/p/the-teen-mental-illness-epidemic
Lots of us who are old enough to remember know that 2012 was the last year the world 'felt normal' and it's largely due to social media.
the cause is not social media, haidt is extrapolating this conclusion out of nothing but projecting his own thoughts onto two data sets
it is increased social alienation due to structural factors before its existence and the destigmatization of mental health issues in western society (and I think mr. haidt is not a fan of discussing structural issues that may criticize liberal bourgeois norms which he helps maintain, considering his connections to silicon valley, IDW, etc.)
ill concede that social media may have accelerated this alienation by keeping social interactions confined, but it is not the cause

Social isolation is a correlation but not a causation. Social media is quite frankly the causation of this epidemic. Go read "Coddling of the American Mind" and "iGeneration" by Jean Twenge. Although not all of it is probably correct, most of it is.

lol
Bro that is all social media. You demonizing an entire social media platform for having some weirdos is just dumb. And yes if you are seeing minors dressing revealingly on your feed then you are definitely into that. You’ll find the same thing on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
It's not even ablut that bro. It's about China having info and data on every citizen in almost every part of.the world that uses tiktok.
But no one gets to see wtf is happening in China. They will laugh in your face if you ask. Completely insane how people don't see an issue.with this. They have the attention of the most influencable generation, teens and young adults all over the world.
Canada just this.week banned tiktok from phones of anyone working in government. Lmao can't make.this.up. Politicians with literally Spyware on their phones. What could.go wrong.
is this law confirmed? Like - will they enforce this i.e. ban tiktok?
Also - can the courts challenge this if this law goes through? I dunno how U.S system works - not from here sorry

Those same phones are made in China
Either way they got it
did nobody see that report from a month or two ago about how tiktok was used to spy on multiple journalists? f*** this app bruh
My mechanic who's from Taiwan had a theory for why they really don't want tiktok out here
