You can't punish people for thoughts alone, can you? If they do illegal stuff, you punish them, like if they molest children or consume child p***ography. But this means they already committed a crime. You have to think of the prevention of crimes too. Just locking up people for thinking about things wouldn't even work because how are you supposed to read their minds? This is were the therapy parts comes in. But obviously most of these potential perpetrators would only go to therapy if they didn't risk an automatic jail charge for their thoughts.

Niggas tote therapy over our heads like it’s a surefire cure or solution to abuse prevention. It’s unfortunate niggas are that sick in the head but they’re clearly big risks to society

It's not about curing their pedophilia (that's probably not possible) it's about preventing them from acting on it.

If you can offer therapy to 5 guys and 4 guys later become s***offenders but you saved 1 guy from going down that path, more importantly you saved a child from getting molested, wouldn't you do it?

If not, what would the alternative be?

This isnt even controversial though. This is common knowledge in psychology. Doesnt mean they are normalizing it.

The only problem I see is the citation of that shady organization inside the article. But the tweets don't seem too wild tbh. Although the first tweet is sus because I reckon life events probably can cause pedophilia as well, to say it is 100% inborn ignores all the childhood abuse a lot of them went through before becoming abusers themselves.

I believe pedophiles are born that way, like it’s something in they brain wired already from birth

But that don’t excuse anything, they know it’s wrong and so should not act upon it

That's basically what the article said, but one of their sources was a pedo

idk. I think therapy, even when showing very positive results, is never that cut and dry, especially with something so deeply rooted as paedophilia. There's no telling what that supposedly cured person will do as time goes on

In the late 1980s, Berlin tracked 406 men convicted of s***crimes against children in Maryland. Five years after they were discharged, 2.9 percent of men who completed therapy had been arrested for another s***crime. Men who didn't complete therapy re-offended at a rate of 7.4 percent, according to the article, published in the American Journal of Forensic Psychiatry.

What the f*** bro, I thoguht that MAP s*** was an elaborate troll. No way it’s becoming a legitimate movement

It's not a movement. It's like 10 people doing that s*** online, and the rest are 4chan people trying to paint LGBT in a bad light as a joke

what I'm saying is don't give em a longer leash just because they passed some tests

I’m sorry Pedophilia is the absolute last thing that needs any context or nuanced discussion. What the f*** are we doing here guys?

The article discusses child abuse victims who continue the child abuse cycle as well.

The article is just bait by this weird company paying through USA today

And what does that mean concretely now lol?

Most s***offenders still don't get treatment even though it's clearly effective.

Yea I assumed from the jump the MAP thing was a troll for that exact reason. I’m just surprised theres an official organization publicly talking like that

Give em treatment so they don't do it again? Doesn't that kinda speak for itself lmao

My whole initial point was that it's never that cut and dry, so you can never be sure. Even if someone passes some tests doesn't mean we're certain they won't do it again. After those 5 years, there are stresses or whatever may happen within their lives which could spark a relapse. Also, my question was what would you do with those who have completed their therapy with flying colours

  • Jan 12, 2022

I got no problem Pedophiles who try to get help or at the very least dont act on their impulses like physically, watching CP, etc

Its the ones who do that need to be shot

I think that’s a nice and curt (but desperate) way to explain the inhuman soul-sucking behavior of the rich and the realities of capitalism without actually denouncing the system

forget the system. they brought slaves over, and took all my ancestors land. they raped and killed many people. but to get back the point, I believe evil does exist. the elite and people live for money and it trickles down to current society who do the same to a smaller degree. big tech is actually involved too. the key is to not be another sheep and don't lose the core values of the past.
