It kinda makes me sad how Usher will never top Confessions. I don't want to say never cuz anything is possible, but he set the bar so high and no one else has even gotten close, there's a 99.9% chance of it not happening
Ya'll think 'I Cry' is going to be on the album? And do you want it on there or would you prefer it to either not be on it or maybe as a bonus track?
I hope he pushes it right. It has the perfect sound for an Usher single right now. It hit 1 million on YouTube in just 4 days. I think it took a good 3 weeks for DWMT to get there so I think this is gonna be the big lead hit for the album.
I know for Usher these days it's good. But it still irritates me how all the other "popular" artists get 100 million views in like 3 days but smooth cuts from the veterans get no play.
Like even the YouTube video for "Gods" and 1990x by Maxwell that came out some years back. Songs are phenomenal and dont even have a million views I dont think. Just a big popularity contest.
I feel like this is why other RNB artist just kinda threw in the towel so to speak and dont drop anymore or that often.
Artists like:
Joe
Avant(till just recently)
Marques Houston
J. Holiday
Just to name a few. Glad Usher is trying at least though.
Like Avant dtopped an album and no one batted an eye. I dont even wanna think about how abysmal his sales probably were and YT views beyond mediocre. But the album is actually pretty decent.
Maybe one day Rnb will rise again though in the future hopefully.
Bad habits so relatable 🥺....
“ I love love, I'm just bad at it
I just can't escape all of these bad habits
I had way too many one nights, yeah “
Sigh 🥺

I don't think so. I like it, but idk if it'll fit the rest of the album.

I hate it too. It's like if you debuted pre-2005 it's a struggle to get people to listen to your music now. Even artists like Beyonce and Alicia who came in (solo) in the early 2000s are struggling to get views. Even if they hit the chart, they disappear in 2 weeks.
I know it has to do with age, but Usher himself talked about it in some interview last week. He said once hip hop became the main genre in the late 2000s, everyone in R&B started struggling and was looking for ways to keep going. So they had to go out into other genres to keep up with everyone else.
And what R&B artists are popular now? Even a lot of Chris' stuff is more pop and trap leaning. There's no one in pure/traditional rnb slaying the charts like that anymore.
Hopefully this album changes things. My only concern is that since Usher is older he's gonna have to work a lot harder. I can't think of anyone in their 40s ruling the charts right now, so if he can break through and have a comeback the way JD wants, then I can see more of the older acts getting attention, and the younger artists doing rnb will get more push. JD talked about it in this article.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-53448069
I love how JD said when Usher's album pops off they need to make sure everyone is still calling it R&B and not "pop". Labels and the music industry in general understand R&B doesn't do numbers anymore, so when they hear the word R&B, they want to change it to something else to make it sell better. Weeknd's and Bruno Mars' last albums were called pop despite being more R&B, especially Bruno's 24k Magic.
If it pops off and they keep calling it R&B it'll prove that R&B can make a huge revival, and if they do what needs to be done with this album, I believe it will.
Idky, but I've had Confessions on repeat every day this week and not one song on there ever gets old. That run from Intro to Seduction
It feels like every single track is so good, there aren't any specific gems. Words just can't describe how amazing this album is. It just feels good when you listen to it.
I think that's why I'm so excited for this album. Take back what I said earlier, I believe he could actually match this with his next album 🙊 He's got the dream team behind him, a lot of stuff to talk about... just let it flow, and we're there.

Bro he ain’t topping or matching ‘Confessions’ with this new album.
Same way MJ wasn’t gonna top or match ‘Thriller’ with ‘Invinceable’.

Just cuz MJ couldn't top his magnum opus doesn't mean Usher can't. Not everyone is the same. Tina Turner had her biggest and best album at 44, decades into her career. Cher had her biggest album and single at 53 years old, and over 30 years in. Anything's possible
But I do see why fans say he won't top it. It's literally perfect. That's near impossible to accomplish, but it looks like they're trying to make magic again, and I say go for it.
Edit: And by top it, I really mean quality. It's unlikely he'll do a mil in a week and go diamond again. Not impossible, but highly unlikely. It could be one of his medium selling albums and still be his best work. Look at Lemonade by Beyonce. One of if not her lowest selling album. Some Mariah fans say TEOM is her best album even though it's her 5th or 6th best selling.

I am as big of an Usher stan as anyone on this site (just got my tix in the pit for the vegas residency). Probably my favorite musician of all time not named Pharrell. Having said that, the magic on the OG Confessions is once in a lifetime. There’s no topping that at this stage in his career. Especially coming off of the worst album of his career ‘Hard II Love’. Best case with this new album is to match ‘Here I Stand’ and even that’s a stretch imo. These new singles have been cool but nothing’s blown me away.
is OG Confessions not on stream services?

No, just the expanded edition. I'm kinda sad the Confessions interlude isn't on streaming services.

yeah I just put it on and that stood out to me. Really wanted to hear that interlude lead into pt 2
Wonder if I still have that cd somewhere
This girl bought it for me back in 7th grade. Albums so special.

Well, quality is all subjective anyway. And like I said, we can't just say something's impossible, There's always that 1% chance. I don't genuinely believe he'll top it. I'm just saying there's a chance and why not be optimistic?
And Hard II Love is definitely not his worst album. His worst is between RvR and self-titled, both of which aren't that bad. But this is opinion based

That interlude is a highlight on the album. Idk why, but I like that lead into part 2 much more than part 1 into part 2. The instrumental is beautiful and those background harmonies that end every line
‘RvR’ >>>>> ‘Hard II Love’
It’s not even close.
And i really wasn’t counting self titled.

Self titled counts. It's still apart of his discography.
So Bad Habits is the lead single for the new album. He still hasn't disclosed the actual name of it yet, but he seems pretty excited about it.
And they did a verzuz against himself (I got the idea from here)
@AP3 Usher is actually promoting again
