I can understand. I believe that when Usher took a long ass break between Confessions to Here I Stand. Everybody moved on from Usher to JT, Breezy, and other R&B artists at the time that it made it hard for Usher to comeback strong, then factoring his marriage and him growing up played a huge influence on Here I Stand hurt his momentum.
By 2010-12, he tried to gain back those fans, but it was too late, because the focus was just on CB, but more importantly Drake now. Plus his albums got worse since then
Regardless, Usher is legendary, it's sad to see him get this disrespect.
in 2010-12, i’d actually argue he was more successful than the Here I Stand era, just not with his core fanbase
OMG went #1 and DJ Got Us Falling in Love was #4. those songs were everywhere, plus Scream and Without You w/ David Guetta did really well. only song i recall hearing heavily from Here I Stand was Love in This Club, and mind you i like that album way more than most. it’s mad underrated
imo the quality of his music went downhill during the Raymond V Raymond era and people (rightfully imo) felt like he sold out by catering to a more pop audience but it was still a very successful era for him

Both had classic hits in like 2003 and then fell off/tarnished their legacy with s***ty 2010 pop

He definitely has those. It’s the lack of star power that’s making a lot of people surprised at the pick, there’s no debating the records are there

Super Bowl performances supposed to get you pumped up and excited and usher don’t do that.
They could have got lil Kim, Mary j, Eve, or even did like a mid 2000s lineup.

This is true, but I also feel like the main focus during this time became about Chris and Drake. Because these 2 were kinda head to head with the R&B Demographic at the time. Sadly for Chris, his albums started to go downhill at least for me from F.A.M.E. while Drake constantly got better as time went.
Usher was still making hits, but those core fans I felt put him to the side for Drake and Chris in the early 2010s.
