In the modern era? Compared to Rihanna and The Weeknd who have done this recently? No imo
Man’s Tiny Desk did like 20 million
Y’all riding for usher when breezy already got more hits and dances better
Did Usher f*** your girl or something?
Difference is one of those artists would do more than 16k if they dropped today
30 year act, he got nothing left to prove to ya’ll got more hits than Eminem too

Is Usher music even charting these days lol serious question
This is true, but I also feel like the main focus during this time became about Chris and Drake. Because these 2 were kinda head to head with the R&B Demographic at the time. Sadly for Chris, his albums started to go downhill at least for me from F.A.M.E. while Drake constantly got better as time went.
Usher was still making hits, but those core fans I felt put him to the side for Drake and Chris in the early 2010s.
i think that’s because Usher wasn’t consistently giving us rnb anymore by that point
people loved this song though. it may not have been #1 on Billboard but it was #1 in the streets lol. but aside from that and maybe Climax, every big Usher hit by that point was pop/EDM, which is why people accused him of selling out and supported Drake and CB instead. so yeah i do think he f***ed his legacy up w that bc he abandoned his core fanbase in chase of a more fickle audience
overall though, i feel like it’s natural for most artists to lose their top dog status after a certain point. like i remember Beyoncé getting called a flop around that time bc her s*** was no longer doing as well as the likes of Rih, Taylor, Gaga, etc. but looking back on it, her 4 era holds up really well
I’m not tryna disrespect but I totally get it
In the grand scheme of music, usher seems like an insane pick. He has the hits but no one under 25 is even aware of his existence lol. The star power compared to people like Rihanna and The Weeknd and what you’d expect for a Super Bowl isn’t there
Under 25 is too early a cutoff. Under 20 maybe. His last US Top 10 hit was Scream in 2012. I think the Super Bowl audience trends a little older than some other live sporting events, so TV execs probably don't care anyway.

He been in the game since 94’ no one’s judging his current performance. When he was the biggest of his peers, his only competitor was Eminem
Did Usher f*** your girl or something?
Nah but I mean if this half time show for the women then I won’t be paying attention anyway. I know usher gone be f***ing the floor and doing all that other extra s*** so it’s whatever.
I thought niggas would be more excited for Usher, especially after the last few weak ass performances from less talented artists? Wtf are some of you on

Well maybe his time to perform has passed? Maybe he would have been a hot act when his music was hot and fresh in 94’ but in 2024? Come on bro stop it.

Since when is the Superbowl half time show about relevance today and not about Legacy? This is the Superbowl not the headliner for rolling loud
Yeah comments in here confusing. NFL gets legacy acts all the time
