Naturally piracy isn’t something we do here.
But hypothetically- if one came across ps2 or gba roms; would one need to get the linux or windows version for the deck?

I'm thinking about selling my main PC for a Steam Deck and going back to using my older desktop for all other non-gaming things

Depends what you play on main PC I’d say

You can always dock a deck with mouse/keyboard too

A really strong competitive unit from GPD is here

    https://gpd.hk/gpdwin4

The cons are that it's a lot more expensive than the Deck and the battery life seems much shorter. But the form factor, screen, and performance seem amazing. Also, apparently Steam OS compatible

    $1000 starting price

it'd mainly be single player stuff i've been meaning to play for awhile but could never really get into because i've never been a huge fan of gaming at my computer with a controller (unless i'm playing something multiplayer)

i feel like the few games i do play with friends would still run fine on my old pc (with maybe one or two exceptions). i'm assuming since it's just linux under the hood that i could probably just install discord on it for those few exceptions.

    Yeah sounds good.

Plus you could always put a 1tb SSD inside & dual boot Windows for anything that doesn’t work on Linux (Fortnite, Cod, fifa etc)

The only difference is the storage, get the cheapest one and upgrade the SSD later if u want (will cost less and replacing SSD is easy)
The 512GB also has anti glare screen but if you want the same effect you can just buy a screen protector with anti glare

mine just came in and probably my favourite purchase in years. switching accounts and sharing is dog water but the device itself is a dream

EA access is a really good deal man

Is there anything else similar that works on deck? I’m downloading the games natively through steam as if I purchased them, it’s amazing

I’ve got the 256gb version and I wish I went with the 512, most games nowadays are just too big. I feel like the 64gb would get annoying quick depending on how much you want to be installing and uninstalling games

  • Feb 12, 2023

think i’m gonna sell my switch and cop this instead

i just don’t play it at all like i’ve picked it up 3 times in the last 5 months

i would easily play this more since my steam library so big
