"With his highly anticipated new double album Scorpion having dropped overnight" is not referring to how it's counted by RIAA. It's a double album yes in that its tracklist is made of two discs, but doesn't meet the requirements to be a multi-disc set and have its sales doubled for certs by RIAA. I updated my first post with the link to RIAA's website specifying 100 minutes as minimum runtime

Also I don't think the search on RIAA would confirm or deny, I've tried to do that. Doesn't seem to make any mention on even the most obvious double albums. But again, runtime

there are times riaa does not follow this rule, which was part of my point

i just looked it up, they have the wall as a double album even tho its under 100min as the main example of the rule breaking - it falls at 83mins. most commonly they do exceptions for vinyl era and digital. idk why tho, when theres other vinyl albums of the era that fall under 100mins that doesnt count neither. it did come on two vinyls tho.

but, i did find scorps listing on riaa - it was listed at 7 times plat in 2023 (does not denote if albums are double or not tho, but its obviously over 3.5 or whatever from riaa's side). they dont denote any album tho as double or not for whatever reason on their site, i checked with the wall and all eyez on me.

but, it seems not to be double from riaas side considering its only up to 7 there.

i assume scorp is for sure being times 2 so it "really ' is 5,

but true, there are discrepancies of riaa and billboard of how they count doubles its weird how theyre not on the same pag, if im not mistaken. if riaa say diamond then its halfed from billboard, so if riaa say double diamond then its 1 diamond from billboard,

    doubles are always weird,

and views is technically a double album but some paces count it as such while others dont,

idk tbh - s***s kinda stupid if you ask me and very archaic. while being even more confusing in the streaming era.

there's a similar weird half way in and halfway out kinda thing with mmbs as well in tracking/reports ive noticed.

    Scroll down to MULTI-DISC SET

Each unit within set counts as one unit toward certification.
Minimum run time is 100 minutes.

    Scorpion is 90 minutes

I think the 100 min rule is mainly for streaming era releases

idk, they should just clearly state it more or just take away that arbitration imo. its just very dumb, n at the VERY LEAST they should clearly state if something is a "single' and "double" disc

they have clarifications for almost everything in their tags and details such as "artist" or "group" but not that

but for those wondering, they have pink floyd the wall listed at 23x plat last update in 1999 (holy s*** lmao) and 2pac all eyez on me at 10 in 2014 when i looked it up to see if anything double disc'd is annotated anywhere

  • and what is up with riaa n billboard having a search engine as bad as this site

Definitely a good counter to all the "he's fallen off, nobody cares about him" takes that people have been desperately trying to push. Even him just casually announcing a tour in Australia and performing for sold out crowds is annoying all the Drake haters. That's why they all wanted him to "disappear and come back after a few years" so Kendrick would rack up all the wins and they'll use that to diminish Drake's impact and stature as a mega star. I'm glad he didn't listen to them.

its mostly slop but i gotta say clb makes scorpion look good. theres like 9 songs out of 46 on both albums that i like

  • numbers wise he outta here line ages like wine

  • Drake is the king of releasing generic songs for people who don’t like music at all. I see plenty of videos where people use those singles as background noise.
