    this is not an alt

The most interesting thing to me is is what the end point is. If you are all of humanity united, why would you need so many individuals, won’t they just reduce to a number that’s enough to sustain the species? Surely that’s not more than a couple million.

What I’ve been wondering with them all being United, and the body just being a vessel and not the actual person…how does death work? When they claim there are people dying….whos actually dying if they are all United as one?

Pacing isn’t necessarily slow so much as we are used to more characters on screen . We are used to background characters talking . Vibrant worlds . It feels slower because the world is empty and there are only 13 possible humans with free will and most episodes we only see max 3 of them but at lowest 1 of them

    This is actually the answer!

They called breaking bad season 1 slow to many. He is setting up the world . I love Rhea seahorn she is doing a great job I just want to see a day in life of all remaining humans . I get that it makes sense for us to feel lonely with her

Breaking bad slow?????? Nah those people are crazy lol

They did a good job of keeping that voice mail on . I was just as frustrated as carol hearing that voicemail 4 times in a row

In order to be fast paced you often have to be slow paced. When you're fast paced you skip character development and the realism necessary to ground you in the world. When you skip these things, you don't feel connected. When you don't feel connected, you're bored.

Every episode still gives me like
    3 solid laughs
    3 emotional moments
3 plot points I never could have predicted

    And the episodes fly by

Facts. Even something fast paced like Uncut gems slows down at times to showcase the family scenes.

Look at the fishes episode for The Bear S2. It’s chaotic af and then slows down when Cousin is talking to his pregnant girl in the room.

I mean in the case of an apocalyptic world where only 12 people are fully human still character development is difficult in general

Not really. It’s easy to do exposition and explore Carols character. Look how they had her interview that one guy where she was asking him “what do you guys think about my books?” “What did my girl think about my books?”

Doing a “interview” is the oldest trick in the book to do exposition and character development. Like Tony sopranos in therapy. It’s even easier when the person you’re interviewing knows everything and can’t lie.

Besides that… When the wolves tried to dig up her girls grave, she did everything to stop them. That’s character development and shows who she is.

Her being at odds with the 10 others and difference in opinions on how they view the apocalypse and having different goals.

Oh yeah we learn some she is developing some but not changing . Like we are learning more about her insecurities and loneliness but that won’t connect for all .

I’m enjoying the show but I have chill expectations. I loved breaking bad and haven’t seen better call Saul . People doubted leftovers concept in beginning too snd that’s one of my favorite shows of all time . I’m patient and have other things I can watch during the year wait for more

If you’re looking for her character to change that won’t happen for a long time. Generally a character changing takes a long time in tv shows.

But to me I think they’ve been doing a great job developing these characters and showing bit by bit who they are.

Yeah, character development is difficult in this scenario, that's why Vince is goated

Man is finding a way to give a lesbian author and a hivemind consciousness comprised of billions of people the same sort of push-pull dynamics of a Walt and Jessie

    I honestly don’t see how it’s difficult

Lol you adding extra sauce to it. This is basic conflict 101.
The hive want one thing “for everyone to be unified as one”

Carol wants the complete opposite “for everyone to be individuals and back to normal”

It’s actually a very simple concept at its core just told in a creative way.

Maybe a little sauce, it's not truly Walt and Jessie, but I'm just noticing the similarities in how Vince writes characters and I thought the whole "We need some space from you, Carol" plot point was pretty inspired.

He’s definitely a goat. But the whole push-pull aspect is actually more basic here than Breaking Bad.

Essentially breaking bad they both want to make meth at one point, but them as individuals is where they start to split and have conflict. But they have a common goal to a degree.

In this, there isn’t a common goal. They are at complete opposites. So honestly it’s easier to have conflict in this show.

Jessie and Walt high fiving cus they cooked up a good batch isn’t happening here lol being Carol and the Hive are 100% oppositions.

I mean the true feat that is crazy is no flashbacks he is doing all present storytelling in most cases someone would use flashbacks a lot

Ohhh gotcha. Yeah I wonder if he’s always wanted this to be a singular vehicle or if the main POV will change later on in another season

I just like feeling like any character can go at any point. She has main character syndrome and is ironically the main character . Sometimes show feels very 4th wall

So far only like 3 of the 12 survivors even have any screen time or glimpse of personality, which to me is a waste

This could obviously change down the road but yeah

Also them all feeling the same exact way . They aren’t going to die and if they were asked to join the hive and did I wouldn’t be shocked . Carol and menunos are the last remaining characters with any aspirations besides delusion of grandeur . No words they say can convince people otherwise

What if that’s part of the point of the story? Where you’d think these humans would ban together and make it easier to accomplish the goal yet Carol is still stuck feeling alone

I wonder if he has everything planned out to an extent or if he’s doing like before and just going on the fly challenging the writers room to turn water into wine as they go
