Weird how every time you see a photo of a mall food court your first thought is that it’s a photo of your local mall

The weird feeling for me is that all these people lived just as we are now but in a different era, and we have no idea what happened to these people and where they are now 😥
But these photos bring me tons of nostalgia. Even tho I wasn’t old enough to truly live in the 80’s and most of the 90’s, it’s like you still felt the tail end of the aesthetic and s*** growing up
Used to love going to the mall as a kid. Not like we were able to afford s***, but there always was a certain magic in the air there.
But I guess that was a normal mall not a vintage mall I'm sorry please continue

OP I f***ing LOVE going back and seeing old photos of my local mall before they renovated it. I love seeing old photos and videos of stores/public from the 90s in general. I so badly wish I could just walk through, like a portal, and take some cool s*** back to the present day with me. Like a sealed Gameboy Advance and s***
Used to hate malls when i was a kid in the early thousands. Stuffy, crowded. And my mom loved to watch americas most wanted so i thought id get yoinked any time i left my mom so i stuck to her
wish I lived my teens during the 80s-90s
Tbh, seeing movies from back then about kids hanging out at the mall or just in general without the internet makes me wish I was that age then
I know they're just movies and it probably would have still sucked in its own way, but I feel like the internet has taken a lot of mystery out of life, like I was just at the point where creepy urban legends were passed around the playground, but I wish I wasn't in a world where it's instantly possible to disprove some kid saying Mew is hidden behind a random truck in Pokémon Red
ngl it hurt when my local mall got rid of their fountain. where am i supposed to thrown my quarters now
I don't remember too much of the 90's since I was born in late 1993. But I DO have distinctive memories of like 1995/1996/1997 of being a little kid wandering around in the mall.
I remember LOTS of the designs were based on MEMPHIS design. For those too young to know about this, it's basically that late 80's/early 90's design trend that took over. Most of you would associate that 'aesthetic' with the 90's. Here's an example: (This is obviously overkill)
Anyways, I remember being a little toddler in the mall seeing these colorful shapes and designs. It evokes a LOT of nostalgia in me.
^ Stuff like that was extremely comforting to see when I was young. It was very welcoming and fun. I miss those designs.
Also even though Vaporwave is a pretty dead genre, some of the gems like this are super fitting to that whole memphis design stuff
Yeah it's a shame about the internet's effect on brick & mortar shops and subsequently malls. That physical aspect is just completely disappearing in favor of convenience & prices. But malls were the best and they started dying out here right as I was getting old enough to f*** around alone or with friends in there
