The Canadian, biracial, Jewish, middle-class, former child actor has reshaped rap, pop, and the masculinity wars.

Masculinity wars!? I guess he is like Andrew Tate to his fans?

America is a very insular country, it’s harder and unprecedented for foreigners to break through in rap especially in the era that Drake did

“It would be next to impossible for another musician from anywhere in the world to mimic or copy what Drake has done,” says Dalton Higgins, a Toronto Metropolitan University professor and author of Far from Over: The Music and Life of Drake. “He’s the textbook definition of a ‘unicorn.’ When you tick off all the boxes — Canadian, biracial, Jewish, grew up middle-class, a former child actor, and so on — you can’t deny his inherent ability to appeal to the widest swath of humanity.”

You're right. They overcame insurmountable odds. The great men of history. It wasn't just signing to American labels and getting pushed by Clear Channel like everyone else

Drake literally riding the prominence of Wayne and a southern accent into the spotlight. So hard for him doing it all by his lonesome in Saskatchewan. Trust me guys I was 13 and had to read mean memes about him being gay

all accurate, except the masculinity stuff, whether he tried to redefine it or not

the thing is with drake is that it’s not only the biracial, jewish, etc it’s that toronto is such a melting pot of cultures, he spent time in memphis growing up, he was exposed to so much and was the first generation of internet music fans and he soaked it all in.

he wasn’t like jay z wanting to rap like big daddy kane or the game being a fan of snoop and pac he was drake who loved wayne, jodeci, jon b, marvin gaye, lykke li, ninjaman, he’s truly a worldly artist and genuinely wanted to pay homage to all of them and nobody’s truly done it the same
