I just dropped some shroomies, but I feel like half of this album is just Ye tryna to prove to himself that he still exists? Like he wants good, bad, any kind of interaction with the project so he can feel human for a second before he retreats back to his nitro-fueled goon cave.
I think ur exactly right

I think he just after money
Needed an album to throw out so he can sell out the LPs
There’s so little inspiration in any of these songs more than half of them are just songs that have just been sitting on a hard drive for years
Ye doesn't like music anymore
He def looks at it as a cash grab at this point, not even trying to compete anymore
The Drake beef was the last thing keeping him motivated to put any effort into it
This is super interesting thanks for answering
What are some of your takeaways with working with those early models
How do you feel about grimes pov of open sourcing all art. I see It as a potential for artist to make money forever and “make” music forever as others would be them when they needed to. I’m interested in what the effects of something like that catching on.
I’ve use suno and others and have been impressed with the ability to submit my own lyrics and it would sing them
I was not aware of the grimes project do you have any more information regarding that project or others like it
Thanks for the info
np. quick disclaimer though since this is a polarizing topic and people understandably make assumptions: i do have a personal/professional interest in ai, but it doesn't mean i'm extremely "pro ai" in any sense at all
there's way too much nuance to all of this, especially for this thread lol, but my views probably don't really align with a lot of people who work in tech/ai rn.
as far as c's views, i can't speak for her and have to be mindful of nda's etc but she's a v. intelligent person (way more than she gets credit for) and she's genuinely extremely thoughtful about AI and its implications on society/culture in general.
as far as takeaways.. it's getting pretty late & i had a few drinks earlier so idk if can give the response you're looking for tbh. but i guess one thought is within 12 months it'll probably be pretty easy to run a model on your laptop that can generate a realistic song by any artist, any era/style, genre, lyrics, etc etc. from a text prompt.
the main things slowing that down are probably just the hardware requirements of current models (which will come down) and the legal aspects, which have never mattered on the internet before
part of me thinks it would be the coolest s*** ever (for personal use) but the obvious negative implications with that will be really, really bad ofc.
How is he gonna say go listen to Future as an insult and then Promotion be right on the same album
Because every lyric on this joint is a first draft without any consideration for logic or cohesion.
For some reason people really love ye. I think it's mostly dogshit and clearly half-assed. VULTURES 2 may be even worse.

Def rushed but at least there was passion and soul put into it
This s*** is not only lazy but vapid and basic on top of it

Kanye cultural cache will make him money whenever he wants. I think what he lacks and desires is genuine human experience. Kanye a zoo animal atp. Remember when Micheal would larp in supermarkets? It's not insane to think Ye doing these LPs just to feel something for a sec.
also hot take but i feel like if people are fine with ghostwriters they shouldnt really have that much of an issue with ghostrappers?
i mean there's already a level of accepted inauthenticity, and i guess the justification is that the artist is still directing, curating, the project etc. and that's what you value (or you just like the music/the artists sound etc) so if cyhi or whoever can write and rap a whole ye album, with ye's direction/guidance/curation, and the music is good — what's the difference?
genuine question with no judgement btw
Does anybody else find it funny that the ultras are like the evil version of the Sunday service choir or is it just me

Eh i liked ye on release but it's pretty vapid in places as well. Trying to mask itself as a serious body of work discussing mental health but has so many s*** lyrics along the way that distract from what he's trying to say. The two hits weren't even serious at all. More trash but I guess at the very least it has Ghost Town which is decent but probably the most over hyped ye song ever. Violent Crimes is just gross and weird

It’s just getting to a point of okay so then wtf are some of these artists actually doing?
Drake, Em & Ye have all dropped music with AI vocals this year and Em is the only one I can say who did it with integrity.

no i agree. but i'm just thinking where/why do you draw the line if you already don't care about (what i view as) a pretty significant level of inauthenticity?
like the dude in the thread earlier who likes the album, acknowledges ghostwriters, but had a major issue with the claims of AI

I noticed. Kanye's aware of how music effects people. The whole Vultures vibe has been "evil/uneasy"

I love Violent Crimes but its disappointing to know he didn't write a single word of it
the album ye's problem is he scrapped it a week before and the writing clearly reflects that. The runtime is 23 minutes long and 10% of the album is him saying "I thought of killing myself"
If it was branded as a mixtape or something it would be ok

Because in Ye’s case it’s just pure laziness and not even him rapping it, he’s taking a reference someone else made for him and just throwing AI on it. Like that s*** is inexcusable imo

Yea some of the lyrics aren’t that deep but you can FEEL the chaotic energy in that album
This album makes you feel absolutely nothing

Violent Crimes is just a weird and disgusting way to present a discussion on being worried about your daughter growing up. Lyrical disaster.
