@theDonandOnly I keep getting attacked for having an interest in the election despite being British. These people think that US politics exists only in a vacuum and that the rest of the world, never mind their closest allies, are not impacted by their politics.

yeah this is just dumb. US is a massive country and the outcome of the election will impact on the UK, so why wouldn't you care? also sometimes to understand what's going on in one country you got to look at others too,

every country is interconnected. Look at the impact we've had on other countries in the UK, often alongside the US. Everything from the legacy of empire helping reinforce global inequality to recent wars.

Our political class want us to look at politics as only about our nation so it lets them off the hook for every inhumane foreign policy decision they take and most people go with it. It's why when you hear people protesting racism rn in the US rn with the exception of some (kehinde Andrews, Cornell West etc.), they usually only talk about the systemic racism in the US not the systemic racism the US has helped create in other countries. If we're being honest every US and UK government has helped perpetuate racism and inequality on a global level. Even the 1945 labour government had a horrible effect for other countries while building things like the NHS in the UK.

When we do political things we're only ever allowed to talk about things in a local or national way and if anybody ever steps outside of that (like labour did these past 5 years), then there'll be isolated from the mainstream political opinion and probably fail. But it's actually bullshit. Are people suddenly insignificant once you go past your nation's borders? Like if you step over from Northern Ireland to the republic, they aren't just more people who live right next to the UK? It's just nuts

From what I know or at least the people I have talked to that live in those areas, the rural area has improved while urban cities are pretty much the same. Most of the cities are controlled by Dems doe so I dont know how much that applies to the rural area either.

Stagnant Obama economy? You lost all your credibility already. Obama inherited a HORRIBLE economy from Bush. He not only fixed that economy, he put economic policies in place to ensure even an idiot like Trump couldn't fumble the bag. Which he still almost managed to do mind you. But that's the difference between inheriting a bad economy and inheriting a strong stable economy.

Who'd you vote for, a person who has actually put forward racist policies and constantly voted on them over the last 40 years and a guy who has said that he doesnt want his children and grandchildren to go to school with black kids because they make school seem like a jungle or a guy who in 4 years of office has not put out a policy that hurts black people in particular.

Trump is not perfect and the way he acts tells me he is an egomanican and idiot but not stupid. I don't have to like my president personally and I definitely wouldnt like Trump on a personality level if he was my president but he is 100% the better option when it comes to the two of them.
