Drake, Kendrick and Cole are at a point where them doing interviews with rap media does WAY more for the media than it does them. So why would they WANT to get interviewed by someone like Ebro or The Breakfast Club who are gonna try and get a soundbite out of them and/or make them uncomfortable?

Honestly I think The Breakfast Club would give Kendrick or Cole pretty good interviews today though, when its an artist they respect they take a more serious tone and they heavily praised the off season and especially mr morale that woulda been a good interview tbh

But even if not them it’d be dope for them to sit down with someone like Sway or Zane Lowe

Aubrey, Cole and Kenny might not give him and interview, but at least his bae will

What its really about is they don't make a bag of the interviews, and they cant build thier credibility of thier platforms.

But why should the artist do it, what do they get?
"Promo" yesh that was always BS

Interviews was just a part of the radio finesse payola scam days to ensure playtime, now that radio era is nearly over the artists dont need it and dont get any benefit from it. Promo works in 5% of cases at best.

If Apple Music and Spotify started giving preferential treatment to artists for interviews then it might change otherwise its over and imo thats good people need to stop caring about personalities of musicians to begin with

When you’re the biggest fish in the hip hop pond why talk to a lil streamer fish when there’s a bigger streamer fish in another pond with another school. And some hip hop interviewers be too messy just so their audience can say “they were keeping it real” I get why a bigger name would avoid that. There’s usually nothing to gain from it but a shaderoom post.
