Nothing about Hotline Bling is similar to Cha Cha. Not the beat. Not the sample. Not the flow. Not what the song is about. Absolutely nothing.
DRAM was reaching with his claims and I'm glad he's been reduced to being irrelevant since then. And he credited Timmy Thomas with a writing credit. He didn't need to credit him with a feature?
THIS! I never got the remix thing.
Even if Drake happened to be inspired by Cha Cha, what the f*** ever. They’re not that similar

I can't even point to a single thing that I'd consider inspired by Cha Cha on Hotline Bling.

It’s crazy I had Cha Cha in rotation those times and never even realised the beats were similar. The approach to the actual songs completely different so the drake hate for it was so dumb
HLB was never a Cha Cha remix.
DRAM didn’t sample the Timmy Thomas song. He sampled Super Mario.
The reason people thought it was a remix was because a short snippet song LEAKED, ironically from Drake sxn LOL.

The beats sound a little similar so people assumed it was a Cha Cha Remix but that’s was never the case.

this is false. watched it live on OVOSR and it was only tagged as Hotline Bling. the "remix" title was due to this sxn making it trend from the snippet and the beats1 person tweeting the same once it was played it full
please don't speak as if you know what you're talking about with incorrect info

I was confused at how people ran with the narrative that Drake somehow stole DRAM's song. Even DRAM ran with it. I thought that was very dumb. Drake didn't need to do that and history has vindicated Hotline Bling. It's one of Drake's essential and marquee records and no one with any sense will remember it with any association with Cha Cha.

This
Need to see a source on the song being called Cha Cha remix by OVO Sound Radio tbh
It was called HLB when it dropped lol

(All of those are OVO affiliated sources)

I can’t either. Unless he said “he give me a beat that make you want to cha cha”. But yeah, Dram should’ve never ran with that narrative.
fond memories of that OVO sound radio episode in summer 2015 where they played hotline bling back to back like 18 times
