So I was at this Thai restaurant yesterday getting dinner with my girlfriend. The service was nothing special although the food was good. When it came time for the bill, I paid for everything and gave a lil tip although it was below the suggested tip amounts( don’t blame me, s***s rough rn).
while we’re on our way out, the waitress asks if we found everything okay and if the service was good. We said everything was great. Then she whispered in my ear and asks about our tip. She said her boss will get mad at her bc our tip is low, and will blame her service and usually when the service is good, you tip according to the suggested amounts. We gave her some more money but wtf??
Has this every happened to any one? Are they allowed to do s*** like this??
TLDR; I tipped low bc s*** was rough for my pockets this week and waitresses pressed me for more money.

i work in hospitality rule 101 never ask about tip you get what you get, and no boss will ever ask about tip like that she either 1 lied to you and said that and for you to believe the story so she can get more money from you or 2, she really meant that but again i think its 120% bs
Get ur money up lol
Job f***ed up payroll this week. Not my fault. Also I have to get my money up to donate money for ppl with JOBS??

How long are we talking
Why would you be dining in at a restaurant if you’re so broke you have to nickel and dime the tip. S*** is dire circumstances bro you really shouldn’t be dining in at a restaurant to begin with. If all I had was $40 until next check I was never going to a restaurant to eat with the rest of the money you eat the cheapest s*** available and hold on to the rest. I mean s*** atleast do pickup and save a couple bucks. Smh you’re ignoring basic broke 101 protocol
With that same bill you paid you could’ve copped enough top ramen for 40 meals
You need to lock in on the grind and save that eating out s*** for special occasions or when you more comfortable financially
Always tip at least 20%. Don’t come with that “they need a real salary” s*** that’s not how it works. None of them want a real salary, they want tips. They make more off tips. If their salary goes up then your meal becomes more expensive and they get less money. Use your heads folks
