It was arguably the biggest song of 2020 and everyone even your uncle knows it and says Ohh I Love It when it comes on.
Now it was that kinda song like Uptown Funk or Shape of You which were ubiquitous and a GP favorite.
Do you think the GP (older than 35) associated the song Blinding Lights with The Weeknd or did they just happen to love the song?
I'm asking cause the song overshadowed the rest of the album era completely.
Unfortunate yeah it is. Hopefully some of the Blinding Lights craze follows into The Weeknd himself (I think it will)
Super Bowl is also a great opportunity
Well not really. Almost everyone including even non Weeknd fans agree that Blinding Lights was wrongfully snubbed.

What? This has nothing to do with the Grammy snub at all lol he’s saying the song itself is bigger than Abel himself, which I think is a very fair assumption to make.

those who follow pop culture, which is less than 10% of the GP
No I think anyone who knows this song at least knows there’s an artist named The Weeknd and it’s his voice on the song
I know it's done super well on the charts but I don't think it's that big of a hit. It's hard to explain it.
Just doesn't feel as big as a Uptown Funk or even Old Town Road.
Probably wrong
I feel like most people know the song is by him
and its his biggest song fasho but not like its his first mega hit
For the older crowd, yeah. But for everyone else I don't think so; don't forget the success of CFMF, the Hills, Starboy, I feel It coming, etc. The Weekend has had high exposure the last 5 years so I still think he's bigger than the song
All I know is that boring ass elevator/waiting room song overshadowed his entire album and there was like 3 other songs that deserved its success.
Also the fact it’s his career defining hit is gross

yeah exactly, its not his first mega-hit

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I think that the fact that we were on a lockdown for a lot of the year makes it feel a bit different than past years and the hits that came with it. But I think if we were in normal circumstances I’m sure that you would feel how large of a hit BL was

yeah people really liked the Hills and Can't Feel My Face

How does this even remotely resemble BL
It’s not. This isn’t his first, second or even third or fourth big hit.
He’s a household name
How does this even remotely resemble BL
It’s a faceless Pop song that is meant to be played in the waiting room of every Doctor/Dentist office.
The Hills, Starboy, Earned It, etc are just so much better smashes. Sorry.
Huh, maybe I’m wrong. I didn’t really think the GP was in tune to The Weeknd like that, always assumed they just knew the song
Honestly never thought he would outdo "Can't Feel My Face"
That song was inescapable but somehow he did it with Blinding Lights
