i don’t think anyone genuinely thought kanye as “crazy” until the sacramento breakdown
he didn’t really do anything too crazy up to that point
Well yeah some people still don’t think he’s genuinely “crazy” but people thought he sounded crazy for years 🤣
It was a TIDAL exclusive, the first one, at a time when nobody used TIDAL. We will never know what TLOP would’ve sold first week if it had a wide release.
I would guess somewhere between 500K and 600K
lie
Wayne had first tidal exclusive.
IF IT WASNT FOR WAYNE IT WOULDNT BE 🗣🗣
Kanye’s last time as the cultural centerpiece was standing next to HOV on cubes
Notice no one is agreeing with you because you’re completely wrong lmfao
Kanye’s last time as the cultural centerpiece was standing next to HOV on cubes
2016 Kanye was way bigger than 2011 Kanye
Kanye’s last time as the cultural centerpiece was standing next to HOV on cubes
why do we get on here and lie
holy s*** that gif of drake with the smoking bullet holes
genuinely man why did he do that
Nothing wrong with that in and of itself. It would be hard as hell if he had the rhymes to back it up at that time.
Unfortunately in context it was completely detached from reality
If like C2 Wayne walked out in that it would be crazy iconic

No
That was Anti by Rihanna
These are all lies
Drake had the biggest buzz of any unsigned rapper since 50 cent and was immediately recognized as the leader of the new generation wtf are we talking about
Nothing you said pertains to culture. Drake had big buzz but he wasn't a culture shifter or a "cool" rapper until the second half of the 10s. He was the hook guy in the early 10s that had credibility due to hanging around and being cosigned by prime Wayne.
But you didn't see people dressing like Drake, wanting to be Drake, media praising Drakes albums etc... the influence wasn't there. People felt very comfortable disrespecting Drake. "Drake doesn't have a classic" was a very common thought on the internet, especially on KTT1. It isn't until the last 5-7 years that people have gone back and declared some of his earlier albums classics.
Hell I still have this gif from back in the day--and this was 2017ish so even by that time KTT1 was debating whether he had a classic album

holy s*** that gif of drake with the smoking bullet holes
genuinely man why did he do that
S*** was hard
Sad Drake memes were prob Drakes first really big cultural moment right? I’m probably wrong but this thread has me trying to piece them all together.
I feel like either that or Marvin’s Room
No
That was Anti by Rihanna
That was an accidental upload, it released a day later on iTunes and Apple Music
TLOP was on Tidal exclusively for almost two months
In terms of HipHop yes
TLOP was massively loved and the things he was doing outside of music at the time was very hyped
But to be fair - he did have his low period culturally tho with Yeezus which some on this site likes to pretend didn't happen
The Yeezus summer was the greatest summer in human history
I still f***ing hate what he made ye do with tlop, like it makes me mad
& it was for nothing

2 f***ing months man imagine this s***
I always get mad when I think about this
Kanye was at peak fame with TLOP
No he wasn’t. TLOP was big for music fans and white male kids but was niche in the greater culture. It’s only very specific people who listened to that. LR to Graduation fame was about 20 times bigger. Unless we’re strictly talking about kardashian and trump headlines that didn’t translate to ye’s music.

It probably would’ve broken the streaming record at the time that Views set a few months later
yes f***ing easily why does this have 12 pages
pablo era kanye was arguably his hottest era culturally
current drake is a meme
Yeahhhh man ppl don’t remember. He had both the mainstream normal casuals and the core fans tapped in to the max 2016. I mean that year drake was obv neck and neck and in terms of charts more successful, but if the argument is who is more culturally relevant at 38 Kanye wins. It was also the year he realized how much fame and attention he gains from fully vulnerably crashing out. 2016 was peak but also the beginning of the end
It probably would’ve broken the streaming record at the time that Views set a few months later
Easily
TLOP was massive as hell and it got stopped because he got finessed by Hov

Most of current KTT grew up on TLOP so I understand. But LR and Grad back to back was insane even as at my young age. Certain songs of his were just everywhere lol
