I grew up through the genesis/PS1/PS2 and I can tell you the most fun I had was playing COD4 on Xbox Live back in the day.

Nah that were the dark ages and thats me saying it as someone who grew up during that era. Every developer was trying to make another CoD which made every game feel and look the same.

Definitely, was the most notable jump in graphics in recent memory. Argument could easily made that the ps2 was better than the ps3 but as a whole era ps3/360 def takes it

Ps2 era was the golden era

00-07 u get mgs 2 and 3, gta, silent hills, resi 4, ffx, ff12, orange box, counter strike, wow, wc3, dq 7, halo, timesplitters, melee, yakuza, dmc, shenmue, katamari, aoe, total war, the sims etc. And countless amazing small and big games because they didnt cost 200 million dollars and take 5 years to make. Graphics were good enough and developers were not obsessed with graphics so games were stylized and have aged better than the next generation imo.

But more generally is when you were like 8 til 14

90s and 2000s were the best era for gaming. 70s and 80s had to struggle to get to a point where your favorite arcade games can be translated to the average home.

2010 afterwards became movie game slop with 2020 moving in with live-service slop.
