title. Obviously greater star caliber acts now, but I'm talking sounds. Music today doesn't seem like it's nearly as good or interesting and this year serves as a perfect example.

What point are we saying begins the current era?

  • Well we dont remember the bad elements of the blog era so it's easy to say so in hindsight

That being said overall I'd say yeah it was a creative explosion and a particularly high point

We been at a low point for the genre since the final months of 2018, the worst since 2006-2009

In my opinion, and I'm probably wrong, I think you can call MBDTF the end of blog era and Yeezus was around the time of the transition to the current state of the genre. Not saying that these are the causes of the shift in music, but just to use as a general reference of time.

so glad to see other people ITT acknowledge this actually

some of it must be nostalgia, but i really do think the music was better then, as was the way the culture was mediated by blogs instead of social media

generally speaking, the effort put into rap songs has declined year-after-year - it's become really obvious lately. just look at Ye's latest work, for example. and he's still considered a visionary in music.

Ok then he went from tpab to damn. You don't have to look at BP but he's on 5 songs on it. Point still stands if you choose to ignore BP
