disturbing how the education system has brainwashed Americans through its glorification
Yes.

saying just "yes" or "no" is reductive. it doesn't inform anyone.
Yes they were wrong but for the people in Japan now it was probably for the better. Basically the same as in Germany. If it wasnt for the US probably all of Germany wouldve been communistic under the SU.
So in the end the losers who were occupied by the US had it much better in the last 70 years than the ones who were managed by the Sowjet Union.

This is a terrible justification/take
anyways it was a war crime, crime against humanity etc., and as we should know, there is no clear consensus that it was even necessary to end the war
Anyways it’s context and strategic decisions made up to generals and president to what way to end the war.
what a terrible post.
Just speaking my mind here. My grandfather who fought in WW2 was forever thankful he ended in West Germany and not in the East. Despite being an enemy to the US he didnt really hate them.
Maybe I phrases it badly I still dont think they shouldve nuked them obviously. But you cant deny that the American occupation benefited Japan
Yes, but as much as people hate the military we forget that they’re protecting us from s*** we don’t even know about and things we would never understand.

I‘m so grateful I had a fantastic history teacher in HS who often taught off the book, and gave us some interesting info that I’m sure wasn’t in the curriculum at all
What was the US’ reason for dropping it? Was there ever a concrete reason?
Why are you asking these questions, isn't it obvious there's no viable scenario where mass murder is the solution?
