Swear everyone in here is clueless. The reason thug didn’t chart or do well stat wise is because he has horrible marketing. Didnt never do a actual album promo rollout until SMF. So many damn leaks in his prime. Would flood the market and drop tapes wen he felt like it. Lyon Cohen tried to market him but he didn’t want to follow anyone’s rules. All thugs children sell more than him because they market themselves well with their label. They do album promos and drop when it’s necessary. Thug didn’t start doing decent number until 2019 wen he actually did a regular album rollout. During his prime it was a s*** show. Any fan of thug knows how pathetic It was wondering wen he was fans drop

couple reasons, first was thug was never a mainstream success until recently. lifestyle was a smash but barter 6 had no big songs, best friend did okay, it wasn’t really until havana that he got any kind of success commercially. second was the era when he started dropping albums had really low sales and he was bad at marketing himself, it was when things started to get more digital but pirating was way easier and streaming wasn’t as mature which doesn’t bode well for thugs numbers in his demographic of listeners. he was always big he just didn’t allow his albums to get marketed right and there were low sales all around compared to now

  • Mar 12, 2021

Too many of his slappers spilled out during the leaks.

The albums and projects never compared to the leaks and throwaways.

This literally and the rich gang breakup didn’t help either. They left a lot of hits on the table

this is pure fact, but also his sound was replicated/popularized like 2 years after barter 6 and he was always good at marketing himself to top players like trav/future, those cosigns combined w birthing uzi on slime season 2 r big factors.

i truly believe that the tour he went on with drake in 2017 changed his career and appeal to the mainstream. it was right around super slimey when everyone thought he was really down bad and i think that exposure changed everything

bringing up thug having a #1 hit to show he's more popular than his sons is mad disingenuous when it's a pop feature like that

She hasn’t had a song as successful since then.

Chris Brown most successful song since 2007 just happens to be a thug feat too 🤷🏽‍♂️

Compare his monthly Spotify listeners to Baby Uzi Carti or Roddy etc. and he hasn’t dropped an album as recent as them.

He’s bigger than he’s ever been rn and his main focus is to drop a compilation album to put more of his people on. He’s just not playing the same game as them.
