don't let the hype overshadow your viewing experience
Its one of my favourite anime of all time but when you watch it it's still an anime
my fav anime oat
it’s cool, people overrate the s*** out of it tho imo
It invokes a lot of feeling probably made me feel deeper than anything I’ve ever watched
They do an amazing job conveying the gravity of the situations they’re in
uhhhhh idk this purple hair chick pretty fine......
Watch the directors cut episodes for 21-26 that’s my only advice
Top 3 anime ever made, people s*** on the last two episodes but they're amazing

if u s*** on the last two episodes you dont actually like evangelion
EoE actually ends the series in a concrete way so IMO it makes sense to watch it first
No it doesn't sincxe it was made after, a lot of context is lost if you haven't seen the last episodes first @op
Also, don't expect a straight mecha story s*** going to go in a whole other direction, also don't get too attached to the characters because you're gonna find out a looooot of things about them, and also see it as a commentary on anime as a whole its pretty funny looking at it that way

Yeah i agree, some people swear they like eva then say "watch the movie instead of the last two episodes" which irks me because the last two episodes are essential to shinji's character development. It may take a couple rewatches to understand these two episodes but they're a must watch
Episodes 25-26 are the ending of shinji's character, while the movie is the ending to the story. You can't just watch one or the other to fully enjoy the experience, and watching one first over the other is probably irrelevant, even tho i suggest to watch episodes 25-26 first

im aware it was made after. what context is lost exactly?
always thought the community consensus was movie --> 25/26 lol
but @op you do what works fam, not trying to argue about it
show doesnt get good until the 18th ep but visually its timeless. beautiful art direction and the ending is so bad that its perfect. youre lucky to be able to watch the show again for the first time, enjoy. also dont get too attached to any of the characters
