hellaur i have been eating
sushi by m
this is my fave omakase spot tbh
i really really liked uchu the single time i ever went but it has since closed
and i would recommend sushi yasuda, sushi azabu, omakase room by tatsu, and have heard rly good things abt nakaji and sushi noz as well
but tbh this place is just so fun
theyre really friendly and there 2 make everyone have a good time, its byob but they also do unlimited sake pours on the house, and overall are just fun people
the last seating tends to be the best if youre planning to drink
i know theres a ton of these kinda under $100 "budget" omakase spots but i am very satisfied with this spot. i may have posted them b4?? unsure
<- the chili crisp albacore tuna is my fave of theirs, its very memorable for me
theyre also v happy to acommodate pescatarians (they have one piece with wagyu/foie they can swap for toro/caviar)
all the addons are also nce
also went to the @lahbco x edys grocer collab dinner, it was fire
morocco x lebanon
the hummus with tfaya (moroccon caramelized onions/raisins) is genuinely fire
same with the zaalouk
the chicken brioauts are sooo good. its like a chicken curry puff meets a bakalava.. sweet and savory.. yum
the branzino + chermoula, tajine, and couscous were cool
but the little lebanese sausages were rly rly good
and was a fan of the cake
didnt give upside down cake, just felt poundcake lol
and fudge from the jessie sheehan popup they had at edy's
archestratus books + food
cookbook bookstore with next door cafe
mint + fried chicken sando, very interesting, pretty good
pistachio lace cookies were fire
made this over polenta
food52.com/recipes/88724-feta-rubbed-maitake-mushrooms
you can easily double or triple the dip recipe for the mushrooms lol i had to make more
nonna dora's
orecchiette w lamb ragu
paglia e fieno -- this one features these beautiful tomatoes in the sauce from this coop in italy with 20 women or something doing everything yadda yadda
it was v good, good tomato
tiramisu + negroni granita
turns out i dont like negronis
the tiramisu was ok
dd'ed pozole to work from el tepeyac grocery and deli, v good
last but not least,
iftar dinner @ little flower cafe
featuring afghan street food style fried fish (mahi) + afghan naan + stewed beans
side of fries in afghan spice mix (chips watani) + side of chutney mayo
side of pink tea (tasted like lightly sweet kheer with tea) + maracuya limonada (passionfruit lemonade)
